    Harakoni Warhawks and drop troopers...

I'm building some Imperial Guard drop troopers, and need some help with the conversions.

My plan is to do one of following:

    1. Build the basics from Kasrkins. I might remove the heads, and use Cadian voxcaster heads. I'm going to use jump packs from a company called Hasslefree miniatures (these are like GW jump packs but much, much cheaper! They're bulky and look good on Kasrkins)

    Or...

    2. Use Cadian plastics for the bodies, adding the jump packs and using voxcaster heads again. This will give me more options for weapons, etc, but I'll need to build up the carapace armour... Has anyone got any tips if I go down this route? any pics of models that have used this method?

I know that there is a picture of a Harakoni in the IG collector's guide, but I'n concerned about overusing green stuff as I'm a good painter but an average sculpter... It's been suggested that I could use flexi-straws for the kneepads and elbow pads, but does anyone know of any model parts that could be used?

I know that the Elysians are an option for parts (or even full models!) but I'd prefer to make my own unique models - and of course it'd be cheaper!

I personally like the 1st idea, but thats just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm trying out the second option with limited success. Try as I might: it pretty much looks like a piece of straw attached to a Cadian's leg....!

    Oh well, nice try.

take a look at the nwcromunda backpacks there is one that would look great as a jet pack with a bit of plasticard work i believe that its the heavy plasma gun backpack but don't quote me.
