I first started playing 40k back in 1992, and have just recently (with 4th Ed.) began collecting and painting again.
These are some of my first mini-paintings in years, and I'd like to know what you all think I can do to improve them and the overall scheme.
I'm by no means an expert, and it seems that many of you guys are very experienced with this, and I'd like to see what you all think.
Wow I really like the paint sceme. You paint about the same as I do. I'd guess maybe you could thin the paint a little,or not put so many layers on. The colours look a bit thick.
It makes me think of doom eagles, except that they're not blue. Pretty neat, maybe you should add some white as a third colour?
Edit: Uhm... sorry, i didn't see that they were already white on some spots. Anyway, nice banner!
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
I dont really like it the colours dont seem to go very well together.
I like your paint scheme. Use a lighter shade of blue. Make it so blue out numbers your silver. Everything els look ok. Blue with silver trim I think would look better than silver with blue trim.
A few critiques.
The silver stands out way to much, tone it down with black ink and drybrush a boltgun
metla over it. For instance you could represent wear and tear on it by dimming the metal
Start out with black, mix to a dark brown go over it with a drybrush layer of boltgun metal
to highlight and mix in with a Mithiril Silver. Then Gloss.
Also I noticed your painting has a few mistakes in it, go back and clean up the vents
on the jump packs. You'll see where theres orange splashed around a little bit.
Cleanliness will bring out your models alot more if you paint in the lines.
Thats about all I can think of.
