I was working on an Ork building, and I accidently dripped glue on the styrofoam, it actuially melted the styrofoam right through, so I began putting bullet holes and bomb explosions around the whole thing, it looks like some sort of mexican/ Western show down building, very cool,
This being said- does anyoneone have any other cool tricks with scenery, or tips?
That does sound cool.
One thing to remember though is that fumes from styrofoam aren't exactly healthy and if it is 'melting' then that is likely what is happening. Same reason you shouldn't put styrofoam into the microwave. I'm sure it would be fine in an open, ventilated room though.
Good tip for when I start building my own scenery though. Thanks
To make your bullet marks more realistic put a drop of super glue on the foam then spread it out in a star pattern with a pin.
My blast template of S10 AP2 will toast all terminators.
I got this little toy shotgun that shoots these tiny little plasticflake things and I shoot it at my larger buildings and it makes it look like its an old run down crap hole of a building.
Also Polyesterene is just expanded plastic and plastic melting realeses a pretty harmful fume that is like smoking pot but only the bad part and it smells worse. You have to get quite abit of fumes though to make it that bad.
Rubbing alchol has much the same effect of "melting" the styrofoam as superglue, and it's cheaper. As Menthalas mentioned, the fumes are toxic. Doing this outdoors is a must, and if possible, pick up a hepamask. You can get them in any hardware store near the painting/staining supplies.

-Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
My 12 year old nephew made some tank traps by putting plaster in an ice cube tray. When he pulled them out, they were all cracked and some were broken, etc. It looked PERFECT! They looked like they had been through a few battles. I was impressed enough at this, from a kid, until he showed me the bullet holes he made by firing blowgun darts (from good old uncle FistofManheim of course) at the traps, then pulling them out. It made a perfect impact, with the deeper hole burrowed in, and shattered effect around the "shot".
SWEET!!!!! fistofmanheim, where can one get these blowgun dart thingermajigs??
I got one at a local flea market, from a terrifying woman known only as The Knife Lady. The first time I saw her, she quickly took a butterfly knife I had been clumsily playing with (not knowing how to use one by this point) and proceeded to display a dazzling array of moves. Years later when I conquered my fear of her, I bought a blowgun.Originally Posted by chaos0xomega

Anyway, try searching Bud K. They sell all kinds of cool stuff like that.
You can get blowguns at stores like walmart (not sure the name) and most outdoor/ sport stores like acadamy. Also online, its alot easier and usually cheaper but you have to pay shipping and the guns can be damaged in the mail (unusual). Online is probably your best bet.
