im thinking of doing Pre-heresy thounsand sons but im not sure what their favorite weapon is?
im going to be using black templar models and give them bolters.
canyou show me a pic other then the one on us gamesworkshop
Look round the Horus Heresy Card Game site, here and there you get snippets of information like pictures of per-heresy marine chapters. For example, look at the bottom card here:
Weapon wise they would not be armed much differently than Chaos Marines.
yea but what traits do u think would be good
::After looking at the cards:: Urgh, the old dreadnoghts were hedious.
Prehaps the Thousand sons were bolter specialists. I only sugest this beacuse all the Souls Autoumatons can use are bolters.
EVIL ELF RULES ALL!
what do you think of me using black templar as Pre-heresy thousand sons?
Bad idea - Pre-heresy thousand sons would use the earlier pattern backpacks, like the current Chaos marines or 13th company do. So you'd have to use part's used in the current Chaos Marine power armour.
what models would you suggest?
I think a mix of spacemarine and Tomb Kings parts would work perfectly. The pre-heresy Thousand Sons had a clear egyptian theme. Buy the second Horus Heresy art book for lots of good pictures of pre heresy thousand sons. Good luck!
Ave Dominus Nox!
can you set a link?
The best pre heresy thousand sons conversion was in the black gobbo (the free webzine on the US GW site.. check out the back issues and I'm sure you'll find it.) They used fantasy chaos warrior heads with the horns cut off and lots of chaos marine bits. I don't think that's totally neccesary though, other pictures show the TS with regular helmets.
I'm way too nice, so I dug out this picture from the horus heresy 1 artbook from the black library site. If you want any more, unfortunately, you need to buy the book. But this does show you the semi-egyptian theme. Link.
I don't think black templars really match the theme of any of the pictures I've seen, however. The religious iconography is not appropriate at all, the thousand sons were vain sorcerors, not foaming fanatics or martyrs.
Remember, that pre heresy thousand sons are not representable by any of the current rules, and don't focus on making it realistic. You can't, otherwise every squad leader would be a psyker. Just make the army you want first, and ignore things like weapon choices. However, if you want to be fluffy, take as many librarians as humanly possible.
None of the traits really fit them. I'd keep them codex, not because they were, but because none of the traits describe their unique predicament.
