Hey i was looking at the pics of terrain in the gallery and thought i'd include an explanation of how i made mine. (Unfortunately i can't include a pic cos my camera's busted!!&#33

First i went to my local GW store and bought a grass roll, two tree sets and a wall/barricade set.

I nailed one end of the grass roll to a 4' x 6' MDF board, i unrolled it to the opposite end and nailed it down. (There was a tiny bit of cut-off but not too much to worry about.

Then i simply hot glue gunned my trees down to make a forest and a few trees dotted here and there.

I decided not to glue the walls and barricades down for two reasons:

-they have bases on already so they stood up ok

-If i'd have glued them down i would have ripped up the grass roll when i wanted to rearrange them.

If i get a new camera sometime soon i'll try to edit this and get the pic added in.

Let me know what you think of the idea anyway.

Plus i'm thinking of making a similar sized Cityfight board.

I need ideas for a small Imperial Outpost on one corner of it but any tips for making general buildings will be appreciated.

Let me see if I get this right...

You actually glued the trees to the green mat?

Now why would you do that?
It only makes it more difficult for you to store it.

Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding you here.

first fo all WHY DID YOU BUY TREES? in my oppinion, the variant is one way, collect dead twigs, buy some lichen from a hobby shop, use some old bases and base them and glue lichen onto them, they look as realistic as you can get (coz they are real) so, thats my oppinion..i buy nuthin for my boards..

True enough.
Besides the trees you can buy from GW are just to stereotype, they all look the same.
If you at all feel like buying trees I recomend using only a very limited number of GW trees, rather go for model railway trees.
They are more varied, look better and are even cheeper than the GW trees.
Or simply make the trees yourself, this is the best if you want a really unique looking forest.
It takes time, but if you do it right it really pays off.
Oh and do remember to give it a good basing or you'll just waste the tree.
Basing is half the model remember that.

I glued the trees to my mat because my terrain isn't being put away! Its on a large table so i don't want to take the time and trouble of takiing apart the whole thing!

But why do that?
Doesn't it get boring when the terrain never changes?
I mean it's not like you can shift the terrain around a bit and get some variation.

I only stuck the trees down!

The rest of the scenery is moveable, ya know like my barricades and buildings etc.
