    Legality of non-GW parts

For my new Crisis Suits, I'm planning on either stealing lower legs from a Mechwarrior: Dark Age Koshi 'Mech or a Heavy Gear Hunter Gear and replacing the Battlesuit lower legs with them. However, is this totally legal? I've seen similar things done in tournies, but I still want to make sure.

Well, If you have the materials, you could cover the non GW legs in greenstuff, and sculpt the parts, then you "fabricated" them.

Otherwise, the only ban on non GW parts is in GW tournies.

I've heard Hall of Heroes are equally strict about such things, but I'm not sure. You wouldn't hack it in a GW tournament, I don't think.

Well, this is the model that has me wondering. The legs look like they're taken from Dream Pod 9's Heavy Gear line-actually, I'm pretty sure they are, as the owner of these suits said that he'd converted his Battlesuits like Gears. This Broadside was in the Conflict: Vancouver's third place army.
I always thought that as long as the model was mostly GW or scratchbuilt parts that it was OK. However, since I don't want to convert my army and then have it rejected, I figured I might get official clairification.

I don't really know about that Battlesuit (not familiar with the other models you mentioned), but the thighs and feet are standard issue Battlesuit ones. Maybe the greaves were just placed over top? I can't really see that being much of a problem. However, I also don't see GW letting any other model ranges into their tournaments. Then again, I really couldn't confirm it one way or another.

Official wording is the the model must be minimum of 50% GW parts. Some tournaments make it even stricter, to 75%.

Horseman is right. If you use couple little peices here and there it isn't a problem.

That battlesuit looks cool. Unless you told me I don't think I'd have especially noticed it wasn't 100% GW.

yeah, like GW is gonna pull out a model clcuscale, and it'll tell them the exact percentage of GW parts are on the model

Tau - Knights of the Frozen Wastes
    10/2/4

Necrons - The Phalanx of Gleaming Death
    2/0/0

It has it's shoulders/arms/greaves I believe taken from Heavygear.

As long as you convert em up with GS and other such trappings I can't see them complaining too much...If you just have wepons mounted on a gear, then ofcourse it's going to get ugly.

Personally I plan on making an IW terminator squad out of various bits of gears...The legs and head being from the gears, and the body/wepons systems/backpack from standard marines.
