Well the problem is that my local modeling store caries Vallejo whcih kind of means I have to buy that. I just can't justify having to pay 5 bucks in shipping for a $2.50 can of paint.

Superglue. I have a problem. I use whatever the local variant is at my local shop of cyancrolyte. (God I hoped I spelled that right&#33 and it works OK, but it dries on the tube. Is there anything I can do about this?

Bulk-order paints and only pay one shipping cost. But you MUST USE CITADEL!!! They are so much better!! Don't succumb to temptation.

Apperently, pretty soon they are releasing the Mega-Paint set: All the paints at a dicount price. Instead of paying 2.25 a can, it's like 1.75 or 2 a can.
Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.

I just can't justify having to pay 5 bucks in shipping for a $2.50 can of paint.
Remember that there is more paint in each bottle of vallejo paint, that it doesn't dry in the bottle, and that you generally use up less of it due to that eyedropper. If you order two or three bottles, then 5 bucks for shipping make it cost as much as citadel paint. If you order more, then you save money compared to citadel.

But you MUST USE CITADEL!!! They are so much better!!
Ok, it's a matter of personal taste, but everyone that i know (including myself) considers vallejo paints as clearly superior to citadel ones. I'm don't even use up my citadel ones because i can't resist to use the vallejo paints on my shelf.

Yes, what he said. Not necessarily about Vallejo but about the choice of paint in general.

If Vallejo is all you can get then don't go silly trying to get Citadel (after all the octopus like tentacles of the GW corporate monstrosity will reachyou eventually then all you will be able to get will be Citadel.) Similarly if you cannot get Vallejo and everyone says it is good don't fuss about it.

The long and the short of it is that Vallejo is probably good stuff but I personally have not had any luck with it whereas I have only had manageable problems with CItadel. The reverse is obviously true for people who like the Vallejo stuff.

In the end it will only take a couple of unlucky tainted pots of paint for someone to say "that stuff is crap" - whether they are right or not. Maybe that is what I got when I used Vallejo - who knows? The thing is I knew I could get the same results from citadel paints so I sacked Vallejo off as a bad job. Later on living in the heartland of GW and Humbrol as I do any sort of independent retailers folded so all I can get now without hunting about is Citadel Acrylics and Humbrol Enamels and I don't really shed any tears about that.

What I'm trying to say is that you should use the paints that you find easiest to use, easiest to find and have had the best experiences with rather than being a paint company groupie and going mad for a certain brand of paint just because of the makers - think how disappointed and angry you will be if GW bought out Vallejo or vice versa and one or the other disappeared leaving you with no option.

Additionally, don't worry about quantities of paint in cans, I have been painting consistently since 1984 and I still have a half full pot (20ml) of the original Citadel Sunburst Yellow from that time and it still works fine and I am still using it today. Providing you don't let the airtight seal get gummed up with paint it will not dry up and will likely last you such a huge amount of time that for a consumable item, two quid can't seem like a lot.

Is it just me or is there two threads on paint wars at the moment?

Yeah, its weird, I though I posted in the original thread. weird.

I'd rather get Citadel, as it is what everyone else uses and I don't really like Vallejo that much.

I know around these parts you can buy glue that has a special cap so it dosent dry in the tube. My one tube of glue has lasted for the last seven months. Amazing how much is actually in them when it dosent dry up.
