Been working on Ultramarines recently, very boring... but needs to be done. So I painted this guy to break up squad painting. I'm pleased with the results, especially the face.
i am painting a ultramarines too but just cannot seem to get the right colour... i like the colour and highlighting u done one the armour ... mind telling me how u did it and wad colour u used? the face is fantastic will appreciate it alot if u could also share how u did that... ;-)
Ultramarine blue, then shaded slightly with a mix of ultramarine blue and regal blue. then highlighted up using a mix of ultramarine blue and sky blue.
Keep the layers watered down and fether the blends together. Keep the shades subtle. Less is more...
For the skin, read the new uk white dwarf, it has a great guide to painting skin.
Quite nice there. I can't really say I'm a fan of the model itself, the silly pose done by GW I just can't stand.
I like the blue, smooth and nicely done. IMO it's more reminisant of the previous look of the Ultras and not this new darker look GW have done. Also the face is good, I like it alot. The only problem I can see is his eyes look odd and the scenic base just looks odd underneath such a model.
