Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm thinking of using Graveyard Earth and Regal Blue as the colours for my Tau army. But I've got a bunch of questions to ask before I sit down and redo my whole army.
1) How do you paint a good, smooth coat of Graveyard Earth? I just can't get one, no matter how many thin coats I'm putting on.
2) What colours do you use to highlight Regal Blue? I'm currently using 50/50 Regal Blue/Enchanted Blue and pure Enchanted Blue, but I was wondering if there was a better way.
3) Same goes for Graveyard Earth. I haven't tried highlighting yet, since I haven't been able to get a good coat yet.

Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
Graveyard Earth is pretty dark isn't it? To get a better coat, try using another colour underneath before you put the GE on. Say Scorched brown or something like that...
And it sounds like you're using a white undercoat if its not covering properly. Only thing with using SB is that it will darken up the GE from what you are currently used to.
I know you are using thin coats as well, maybe they are too thin? With just a bit more paint in there, you won't have to do quite as many coats, and you should get a richer finish.
With highlighting Regal blue, I reckon it depends which way you want to go. If you want to make it a more vibrant blue, then go to enchanted blue. You can even mix in a tiny bit of ice blue for a final lighter highlight.
The other way I usually work, is to ultramarines blue. This blue is much paler and not as electric as enchanted, so it gived a different look to the regal blue. Space Wolves Grey can be used in the end if (like ice blue above) you want a tiny bit lighter highlight.
Highlighting GE: I've never used GE before, but maybe Snakebite Leather would be okay? Like the Regal Blue above, it depends where you want to go with the colours. For example, GE could be good for a Nurgle army that will have green in it.
I think that sounds like a plan, I shod also mix some Enhanted Blue whit skull white to get it a littel lighter on the edge.Originally Posted by Broadside_PilotIts depends on what effect u whant to have, I shod mix graveyard earth whit skull white or yellow. I mostely use white when I higlight (exept for red)Originally Posted by Broadside_Pilot
