What do you think works?I'm starting my Xeno Rough Riders and tried out the SM torsos, but they look kind of silly.
I'm definitely using Catachan legs, sculpted saddles, probably Cadian arms, but just haven't found a heavy armour look for the body.
Any suggestions,pictures or links?
How about the you use the scout torso when the new plastic scout box comes out. They wear carapace armour.
"You challenge me knowing that I am Xiahou Dun!?"
The old way of doing carapace armour was to GS it on. A simple vest was often good enough
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
You could use Tau or Eldar bodies, i think
I am Narcotick. Fear me.
LO Musicians clan.
Just GS elbow pads and knee pads onto your guardsmen and add a backpack. That works well enough...
Could also go the route of giving the models riot shields or the like. Blag some off a brettonian sprue or something, but score them in appropriately angular patterns to give the impression of manufacture.
"It fits like clothes made out of wasps!"
I actually went nuts shortly after the Guard were re-released, and modelled Carapace on a few hundred Guardsman. I just looked at the Kasrkin models, and sort of copied that pattern,
I GS'd knee-pads, some armor on the bottom of their jackets, and a wristguard of sorts. Here's a pic of one of my Junior Officers:
I didn't put a backpack on them , since I assumed the 'packs were to power the hellguns more than anything, on the Kasrkin. Hope this helps a bit!
You weren't there! You can't prove anything! The sheep are lying!
Tau: Maybe, not sure.Originally Posted by Narcotick

i think the addition Hile made to his guard actually look quite nice, that's about what i did with my carapace armor guardsmen. although i went with the old stormtroopers for my hardened veterans in carapace armor (kasrkin models for my grenadiers). i just like both storm trooper models, and they both look way different from each other to give some variety of look, along with the armored guardsmen in my command squad and xeno riders.
shouldn't need a backpack either unless, like already said, they have hellguns or some other 'powered' weapon, could even put promethium tanks on their backs if they have flamers (but who uses those, aside from unarmored conscripts). or i guess if you're giving them combat daypacks.
I would just buy Cadians. They are wearing a heck of a lot more armor than my Catachans, and that's enough for me to count it as carapace armor.
That's just me tho.
