    Custom Model

I was looking to make a very specific type of model for my IG army, but there wasn't anything close in range to it, so I figured I might check and see if you guys can help me.

Basically, I'm looking for a bare chested IG standard bearer, preferably somewhat thin (not overly muscley) with a commander look to him, a backpack and a plasma gun.

The closest thing I can come up with now would be to take a catachan and file off their shirt, make a flag, backpack, and find a plasma gun from a random sprue somewhere. But this seems like a lot of work, and I don't quite feel safe simply filing off the shirt, because I'm afraid it'll come out really, really uneven, and that there will just be a random filed flat part where there should be a chest, stomach, and back.

The other idea I had would be to take an arcoflagallent, replace the whip arms with IG arms holding a flag and the other necessary equipment, then saw off the head and glue in an IG head in place of the Inquisition masked face thing. THe arco would save me the trouble of finding/making a bare chesterd model, but it looks waaay too skin and bones and I'd have to probably green stuff a little bit of flesh back in to make the guy look recognizably human.

I was also looking to make this guy somewhat taller then everybody else around him, I was thinking perhaps just sawing the legs, arms, and torso at joints and adding a sliver of greenstuff in between these cuts, then putting it back on, making the model noticbly taller then the average guardsman. Would this work, or just look retarded?

    Any thoughts? thanks

look through the chaos fantasy marauder range of minitures for the bare chest.

they also have standard bearers so this should solve your problem.

Does the Catachan heavyweaponteam not have a full-bare-chest-torso in the box?

I should be able to work with that, though I'm not too keen for buying a $35 box set just for one model... I suppose I could just take the rest of them and swap in lasguns and have them count as guardsmen to recoup some of the cost.

and I have no idea about the catachan heavy weapons crew, though I think they're all wearing either an ammo pack across their chest or a shirt...

40mm bases make models look slightly more imposing. You could also try modelling him onto slate or sumsuch to increase his height. If he's a standard bearer though, the overall model should be pretty tall to begin with.

    Erm, Catachan Guardsmen?
You could always use the rest of them as conscripts, as they all have lasguns.

marauder, they are the best for this. you could just order a single sprue of marauders from GW Mail Order, that would give you four models.
To make him more impressive, try modelling a piece of rock or something on a 40mm base and making him swaying the flag on it or something.
