I'm planning to turn the sweet wood elf highborn with great weapon into a vampire. If you somehow don't know the model:
Thats him. I have a partially elf themed army so far for my army, and he is a really great model so I had to buy it. Since I'm lacking a vampire and didn't know what to use, I figured might as well try this one.
So any ideas on what to do to him to make him more vampire like? I'm going to have a lot of messy filing trying to remove all the wood elf stuff... And probably need to cover the creature on the base, or change it at least. What else could/should I do?
He's Von Carstein BTW.
cool strewart, i was gonna do that too.
First, paint him with black hair. ( important)
Instead of the blue thing, do some undead thing (like a ghost or whatever)
Take away the bow and arrows (maybe stick a book with a chain wrapped around it instead : book of arkhan)
Armour (depends if you use a armoured von caristein or not. ) Mostly you won't so maybe sculpt over it as a second layer of fabric cloak or something.
Make the sword less elf like... too many runes etc.
Paint his face paler
that's al so far.
Would be easier if it was a blood dragon though (ps, what's he called? and what are his items?)
cool idea, maybe instead of the blue thing try a zombie trying to grab him or something.
i totally agree with $urbanknight, the ragedy cloak would be awesome, and you wouldnt really need to do that much gs work, just do the tips of the cloak.
i also agree with THE. instead of the blue thing maybe a zombie trying to grab him, or perhaps a few crows, or even a bat! but if the vampire was an elf in life why wouldnt he have an elf-like sword? maybe make it look eviler or something, but the book idea sounds cool.
theres an idiots input
This night is wild, so cold and dull, these hearts they race from self control
Carpe Noctem (because Diem is too bright)
Blood Angels Wins:6-Draws:0-Losses:5...apparently i'm doing decently for a guy who randomly charges into certain oblivion
I vote for a Spawnesk collar on his cloak, along with it being tattered. I agree with everyone here so far. I do like the sword, but I think it needs to look a little more evil...
I love the model overall, almost makes me wanna play Vampire Counts  And I don't even play WHFB haha.
You Can't Stop the Eighp
Had Tzeentch before I knew how to play :P
definetly use contrasting colours: black or dark clothes, and pale skin. glowing eyes isnt that wrong either
I'll go out on a wild goose chase here if you don't mind.
Heh, glowing eyes? I have phosphorescent paint I could use.
I actually thought about carving out the little blue thing and replacing it with a zombie, sort of clawing its way out of the ground. Might be a bit hard, but I'm willing to try if it will look good.
The bow and arrow is going to be the hardest part to remove.. Its stuck fairly hard into him, and I'm not that good with modelling GS. I can use it as a filler well enough, but I haven't had much experience shaping it..I have 4 vampires in my list, this guy will be the fourth model I need. One of them is definitely the lord already, the others I haven't chosen yet. So this guy is either a thrall with wolf form, flayed hauberk and great weapon, thrall with earthbind, great weapon, heavy armour and summon wolves, or a count with various items including a great weapon. He's a pretty cool model, so if I like the conversion he might be the count.ps, what's he called? and what are his items?
The names are Nicomedius Von Carstein, Ladislav Von Carstein and Xagal Von Carstein. Then Draken Von Carstein for the lord.Thats a good point actually... I was planning to hack off the runes, but if he was an elf anyway maybe keep a few. When I made Eltharion a vampire I carved off the runes on his sword.but if the vampire was an elf in life why wouldnt he have an elf-like sword?
Thanks for the input so far, definitely food for thought.
Oh yeah, notice the vine things on his cloak? I need to somehow cover or remove them too..
Perhaps you could make them look like some sort of barbed decoration for his cloak? Or maybe something like chains or barbed wire strung to his coat?Oh yeah, notice the vine things on his cloak? I need to somehow cover or remove them too..

Update: He is nearly to the stage of painting. I've decided to keep the runes on the sword, as he is Elvish. I'm going to try to paint the sword rusty though, to reflect the neglect of death.
I cut and filed away all the vines to smooth the cloak, that took a while.. The last small choppy bits that I can't reach with a knife will be smoothed with GS.
The bow and quiver, it would be way too hard to try to remove the whole thing. I have cut the arrows and the bow off the top, so rather than being a quiver it is converted into a scabbard. I have a sword hilt ready to stick on it from the Khorne Berzerker sprue.
I've finished carving out and smoothing off the area where the little blue thing was. It doesn't look too bad without anything there, I'm not sure whether to leave the gap or cram a zombie in. I have a zombie torso and arms ready..
What colour should I paint the armour? His cloaks are going to be dark red and purple, so I need some kind of armour that goes well with that..
What about black with dark red lining?
Sounds great btw.
