The title says it all, I was just wondering if their is really any way someone who doesnt have the best converting skill to do it or is it hope less?
Paint them in oriental colours (skin, armour, etc). Blacks and reds are good starts for armour and simple to paint too.
Give them samurai style banners - you can get these in SM tactical boxes and probably other ones too. Ask around some people don't use them so might give them to you. You're local GW might have some spare. Draw some simple asian writing on them, or if your good at art, something like bonsai trees maybe? This should make them look more asian.
Dragon symbology on vehicles is another good way.
Give your HQs and sergeants katanas. You can get these from Deathcult assassins, though this will be quite expensive. Would look cool though.
None of this is too complicated. Hope this helps
A cheaper way to get katanas are Howling Banshees. I used them for my Shas'uis and they look pretty good.
Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me.
Member of the Canadian Clan, eh.
Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
Practice makes perfect, cliche as it sounds its true, concentrate and just work on your models. Work at it until it meets your standard, bro.
I was looking at this sprue for my Black Templars, but if you're looking for extra pennants and banners, the plastic knights sprue that comes with the Knights of the Realm box has some nice stuff on it. $15 for (I think) 3 pennants is a bit much though.
What about using Tau Firewarrior shouldpads... I think if you used 2 of them on a model, and then maybe for their legs it would look good... Or I'm sure there are other things that might look just as good. You would just need to file off the tau stuff and maybe use a little green stuff to fill in that gap...
Everything else said here I agree with as well.
You Can't Stop the Eighp
Had Tzeentch before I knew how to play :P
This actually reminds me, has anyone seen the tau human auxillaries on GW's website? They look kinda asian... Look here at the bottom of the pageOriginally Posted by Centum
There was a guy who did a green color SM army with a dojo theme. It was really good. It used alot of plasticard to layer armor in sheets, take away some of the roundness and smooth lines of the Marine armor. I can't find any pics however. Sorry.
