This thread is for voting on the retinues's contest that has been running for the last three months. You can vote for one and only one as your favourite, the top three win prizes put up by my own fair hand.. umm... wallet.
You will see that some have fluff, others do not - and some are named, others are not. I did want them named but as there were so few entering I am forgoing this.
You are free to discuss the entries here, though I request that the members who have entered to remain silent about their own entries as not to invoke biased votes. I also ask for members not to vote for their own but if you do, alas there is nothing I can do about it.
I will now say thank you to the people who have entered, it was a lot less than was expected but it is better than having none. So thank you to those who entered you can hold your heads high and claim you tried.
Now for the FB one...
I am sorry but this has been cancelled. I only gained the single entry and I saw no point in going through with it, so thank you to the single entrant but I am afraid it was a wasted effort. But thank you for trying.
And the entries will follow...

The Sons of Dorn
Detailed pics of each model -
The Sons of Dorn is my home made Space Marine Chapter. They are
decended from the primarch Rogal Dorn and follow such chapters as the Black
Templars, and Crimson Fists. They do not have a homeworld and spend much
of their time fighting in or around the Eye of Terror. As such it is
not uncommon to find their equipment and armor abused from countless
thousands of battles. To Exterminate the unclean is a priority for the Sons
This particular command squad consists of:
Commander Mycaelis is the commander of the Sons of Dorn. He leads his
marines into battle wielding his multi-melta and power fist. He has been
awarded with Terminator Honors.
Brother Acrisius is the command squad standard bearer. He boldly
strides forward showing the pride of the Sons of Dorn. He wields a bolt
pistol and the company standard. He also has terminator honors.
Brother Caton is the company champion. Armed with his power sword, bolt
pistol, and storm shield he wades into battle bringing death to the
ruinous powers. He also has terminator honors.
Brother Eusebius – He is armed with a bolter.
Brother Xpianus – Armed with a plasma gun he brings hot death to the
enemies of mankind. He also has terminator honors.
Veteran Sargeant Ordu – Wielding a power fist and a storm bolter this
veteran of thousands of battles is ready to end the existence of the
unclean. He also has terminator honors.

The army I am submitting the retinue for is Imperial Guard, for my own
personal regiment called the Steelhawks.
-=Naming=- **Front view, left to right**
Guardsman Renix: With Lasgun
Brother Narcis: With Close Combat Weapon
Old Man Seemly, Master Vox Operator: With Laspistol, Close Combat
Lord Valorum, Regiment Master: With Power Weapon, Close Combat Weapon
Wulfson, Standard Bearer: With Laspistol, Close Combat Weapon
Guardsman Samulson: With Lasgun
The Steelhawks are a relatively new regiment, with an existence of
just over five years. Their home planet,
Escheria, was located behind a warp storm, and as a consequence was
unable to be located. After the warp storm subsided, an Inquisitorial
investigation into the area to remove any lingering creatures of Chaos
found the world. Deeming it suitably pure, they recruited them into
the Imperial Guard.
Lord Valorum, the leader of one of the largest countries, was
appointed the leader of the regiment, and the majority of his standing
army was drafted into service. Lord Valorum is notorious for his
unorthodox methods of warfare and armament: when the first shipment of
standard issue equipment arrived on the planet, Valorum was outraged
at the 'flimsy armor' that was to be issued to his men. He
commissioned as many armourers as he could to design suits of armor
that would better protect the men, taking only the shoulderpads and
the weaponry from the Imperium. The suits of armour designed were more
protective of the wearer: indeed, dents could simply be hammered back
out, and torn scale mail could be repaired in the field by attaching
scraps of metal to a leather strip. Although it is heavier than the
standard issue Imperium armour, the added protection makes it worth
every pound. He is often ridiculed for these types of decisions,
however they are the best he can make in his position.
"You may laugh at my ideals, or my tactics, but this universe is still
new to me. I am simply taking what I know, and using it to fight what
Lord Valorum is also one of the commanders that has a strong
commitment to his men. This is what drove him to give them better
equipment, and also is evident in the tactics that he displays: he has
often argued with other commanders because he feels that the mission
is foolhardy, or even suicidal. However, his unique brand of
leadership and tactical genius have led his regiment to victory in the
short time that they have existed. His personal guard consists of
those who echo his ideals, and some who would lay down their lives for
Renix and Samulson are members of his personal bodyguard, and carry
lasguns and bayonets. They have accompanied him everywhere he goes,
and protect him all the time – even taking shifts to guard him as he
sleeps. Standard Bearer Wulfson is in charge of the regiment's
colours, and is Valorum's uncle. He was Valorum's mentor in his
teenage years, when Valorum was just learning how to fight.
Old Man Seemly was born before anyone else in the commanding echelon
of the Steelhawks. He was a friend of Valorum's father, and another
one of Valorum's mentors. He carries the command banner, which is used
to give signals to others in the heat of battle. He is extremely
stubborn, and his banner pole is broken in two places: this was when
he used it as a weapon to stop the charge of a Tyranid warrior. He
often spends a lot of time alone, and his bravery on the battlefield
inspires the soldiers to fight on.
Brother Narcis was assigned to the Regiment by the Ecclesiarchy, and
has been "an incredible nuisance", according to Old Man Seemly: "His
incessant chanting leaves everyone on edge, and I'm close to killing
him myself." Not much information could be gathered on Narcis,
however, as he was killed by a heavy bolter round in a battle
following the visual recording of the Steelhawk's leaders.
Pyran Dragoons 'Scarlet Guards'
Lord Marshall Lasington-Drake and the Pyran Dragoons 'Scarlet Guards'
The Scarlet Guards under command of the young but charismatic Lord Marshall Gabriel Lasington-Drake are among the most highly decorated of the Pyran infantry regiments. They fought in the Third War for Armageddon alongside several rough rider companies, one of which was commanded by Lasington-Drake's uncle colonel William Tannley-Drake.
The company proved themselves at the Battle of Hell-Town where they held the western outposts with remarkable tenacity, fighting off ork attacks with perfectly timed artillery barrages and valiant bayonet charges. Despite heavy losses, the Scarlet Guards stood their ground and were commended by Commissar Yarrick himself after the battle.
Lord Marshall Gabriel Lasington-Drake descends from one of the most wealthy aristocratic families on Pyran. He joined the Pyran Officers Academy at the age of 14 and soon proved himself as a fine tactician. He reached the rank of colonel by his 26th birthday and saw action for the first time the following year when Pyran was attacked by Dark Eldar pirates. The attack lasted only a year but the young Lasington-Drake had found himself in the forefront of the fighting and his skills on the battlefield proved decisive in driving back the invaders. One such incident involed a sneak attack by the enemy which brought the fighting right into the command centre itself. Several higher ranking officers, including Lord Marshall Guy de'Luc fled, having never seen battle up close, but Lasington-Drake stood his ground and took on three enemy warriors single-handed making good use of his duelling abilities that he had been taught since he was a child. This act of bravery inspired his men and the dragoons overran the surprised Dark Eldar who had expected no hand to hand resistance. After the war, Gabriel Lasington-Drake received the title of Lord Marshall and was given command of the Scarlet Guards. Lord Marshall de'Luc was beheaded.
The military code of the Scarlet Guards follows that of all Pyran regiments; Officers are chosen from among the aristocracy and the troops from among the peasantry. Even though peasant soldiers may destinguish themselves the law proclaims that they may not rise above the rank of master sergeant. This absurd law is a product of the highly defined class-system that exists on Pyran. No aristocrat would ever follow the orders of a 'simple peasant'. This system has also resulted in a high number of incompetent officers who have chosen the military life simply for social status. For this reason, the Imperium has declared, much to the miscontent of the Pyran government, that every regiment must be accompanied by at least one Imperial commissar per company and summary executions are unfortunately common. This has, however, never been nessisary in Lasington-Drake's case and he has formed a highly respectful bond with the Scarlet Guards' commissar, the steely Ardio Teeve.
Lord Marshall Lasington-Drake is always accompanied into battle by his personal flag-bearer corporal Miles Parish and his bugler sergeant Edmund Rose. Also, he usually is accompanied by a pair of guardsmen with a lascannon. In this case, it is crewed by guardsmen Miller and Barnes. As always, commissar Teeve is also by his side.
I would suggest that people who sent in entries do NOT vote for their own entries, makes it easier to get 1st place, 2nd place, etc.
EDIT: Sorry I overlooked your first post, KU.
Hopefully, more people will participate in the future if there is another painting contest.
Good effort Kuffy!
What is the deadline for voting?
I think a week is enough, so next Saturday. And I did put that little line in, just to make it fair.
Yeah, great work in organazing this competition, really shows that you care for this board.
