I had done a bit of conversion on some of my grey knights, eg. a plume on their helmets, the other day, and painted them up, and showed my friends. One of them suggested doing something with the backpacks to make it look a bit cooler, but I'm unsure of what to do.
Does anyone have suggestions of how I could make the backpacks on my grey knights look cooler/more unique? Maybe something to do with the Inquisition (they are grey knights after all)?
I can work green stuff allright, so I could make something out of that.
make the backpack a complete "one piece" unit, join the side ball vents to the main body of the pack by filling the space with greenstuff? It's not a major job, but it will be different

Add blades, not Chaos like but different (not sure if that makes much sense). You could possibly try and add some flames coming out the bottom with green stuff.
BTW: Have you got any pictures?
If your done first, you're the winner.
You can basically divide a backpack into several sections: vents, heatsink and body. Heatsink being the top of the middle part which looks to me like a grill-covered vent, and body being the part just below.
What I am recently doing involves swapping heatsinks for some from Chaos Space Marine models and bodies for those present in 2nd edition backpacks (you know, hoses and stuff) on a pretty random basis. Gives much more diverse (and thus better) results then the standard backpacks.
A cool one I've seen, especially on Inquisition forces, is replacing the vents with Meltagun barrels.
Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me.

Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
Another cool idea would be to put the backpack on that comes in the plastic SM commander sprue (the eagle one that looks like Marneus Calgar's) to show their devotion to the imperium as the symbol of the imperium is the imperial aquila.
Not just yet, but I'm working on it. The closest person I know to have a camera is my Dad, but he's gone to Melbourne for 2 weeks to do a real-estate course.Sir_PenguinBTW: Have you got any pictures?
I could just go around to my freind's house, he has a camera that he's used for some pics of his models.
I'll see what I can do.
BTW- I liked tyhe idea about the full backpack mpdscott, but did you man like actually filling the gaps, or just having tubing there?
What about putting iron crosses or the aquila wings around the skulls on the backpacks and helmets? Maybe putting greenstuff on to make the thing look bulkier overall?
