So aside form the herdstone and the choas monolith and some of the new chaos terrain they have for 40k does anyone else have ideas for chaos terrain for WHFB
I don't know if its 'new', but I made a couple of pieces of terrain with stone altars on them that look pretty neat. The one is on the top of a hill, and the other is in a clearing at the center of a piece of forest terrain.
I was able to use actual pieces of old broken concrete for the altar tops and then glued on a bit of green flock to make them look overgrown with moss.

I'm currently trying to find a way for my Gibbet tree. Thats a very chaosy bit of scenery. Nothing like a huge tree with bodies dangling from it.

the thing that you have to remember is that fantasy isn't a scenery dominated game 40k is.
so any army specific scenery would usually be a center piece.
saying this though you can have a;
defiled chapel of sigmar.
rows of models hung on X shaped posts (using various different models normal empire, zombies, and skeletons, to show various stages of decomposition).
bases that are slightly elevated then have pits cut out of them and painted up like magma.
icons dedicated to each god.
portals (similar to the stargate when the event horizon is open) representing a rift to the realm of deamons
the list is endless you are only limited with your scenery by the limit of your own immagination.

If you wanted to have a forest you could probably model some dead trees (or get twigs from outside and rip all the leaves off), and nail (or model it to seem like it was nailed) random body parts to them. I thought gibbet tree when I first read your post, but someone suggested that already.
Piles of bodies, umm... sacrifical altars....
Some years ago, I made an entire board of Chaos wastes terrain for my Tzeentch army to fight on, I've posted five pictures of it on the gallery, here's a link to my Chaos Watchtower. There's links to the rest of the pieces in my comment at the bottom of the page.
Let me know what you think, and hopefully it will inspire you to create your own weird and wonderful chaos terrain.

I shall not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will allow it to pass over and through me. And when the fear has passed I will turn the inner eye to see its path. There will be nothing. Only I will remain.
