Hey all, i am new here and am starting a space marine army called the crimson scythes. I will post fluff and the army list in the appropriate area but my questions regarding converting are thus:
1. According to fluff they spend some time in chaos space and i was hoping to apply some "death gaurdish" battle damge and a slightly chaotic style to my army i could use some help in ideas and materials
2. I also want to convert them into a close-combat themed army and they will carry scythes but i do not know how to convert scythes other than ordering the scythe of Typhus herald of Nurgle strait from GW
3. Any other ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated
Hormigaunt claws.. you can get 8 for 8$.
I used them to make dual scythe thingies for my Thousand Sons Terminators.
You Can't Stop the Eighp
Had Tzeentch before I knew how to play :P
you could do worse than look at the 13th company models for the chaotic theme.
as for the scythes, the only cost effective way is to go with the nids talons, the hafts on the other hand are a different story.
these would have to come from a fantasy calvery range to keep the cost down either the silverhelms (high elf) or the empire knight box set. or possibly the banner poles from the old emporer titan.
battle damage is relatively easy enough to represent all you really need is a sharp knife, a blunt knife and a 1mm drill bit (plus drill of course) scratch, drill, cut and score all you want, though id tend not to go overboard on any one model with the damage.
WARMASTER of the SCHOLA PROGENIUM Alnwick Chapter (soon to be the world)
There's also the wraith's scythe-blades: http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefr...077&orignav=13
Scroll to the bottom of the page. Just add handle :p
or you manufacture your own scythes out of plasticard. for the rods you can use brass rods that can be bought in a hobby store.
I'll go out on a wild goose chase here if you don't mind.
i would be kind of hard to cut the sythes offOriginally Posted by Tubal
edit: OMG! Mabe i should read the entire post first
you couls put boils on any exposed skin to resemble your marines being infected with nurgles rot.... as well nurglings are small so maybe you can chuck some squashed ones on character's bases
just some suggestions, use them, don't use them... you could go mad with an apothacary and gs if you want your marines to be fighting in a death guard-ish realm... have hime with lots of vaccines and needles for diseases and stuff
There's A scythe in the zombie sprue (but only one) so if you find someone with spares...
But i think making your own would be easiest.
They shall be my Imperial Guard and they shall know some fear...
