Here is a color scheme that entered me crazy, crazy head...
basecoat- skull black, except for faceplate of guardians, with blood red for contrasting
now apply white to faceplate
now paint all areas that are skull black codex grey, and blood red blazing orange (take a toothpick, coat end of it in orange, and use that to do eyes.
do highlighting for codex with 50/50 codex/fortress grey, fortress grey, prolly no highlighting for orange parts (they play minor role)
bottom of vehicles chaos black
swooping hawks- fortress grey armor, with 50/50 fortress grey/skull white, then skull white highlight, white and codex grey "feathers", chaos black faceplate, white helmet.
rangers, farseers- codex grey, no orange at all on rangers, minimal on farseers
I would never paint my Eldar like that, to dark and no real contrast. I think this color scheme will look better on other army’s IMO. But it you really want to paint Eldar gray then try it out, it is your army and it is a question about what you like.
