Hey all, I'm new to painting Skaven and couldn't find any post about this... I'm wondering which colours to use to paint their skin to make it look all natural. I've used dwarf flesh + chestnut ink + bronzed flesh as a highlight, but it just came out looking a lot too bright and cheerful. Thanks for any and all suggestions...
I'd try a darker flesh base - either Dark Flesh or Tanned flesh, then use dwarf flesh or tanned as highlights with plenty of mixing. Inking helps too. That be my guess.
maybe use brown ink, and use darker colours... I cant remember how dwarf flesh look, but you could put a little black/brown in the mix.
alternative you could paint in contrast... also this might be a good link http://uk.games-workshop.com/skaven/...g%2Dstarted/4/

For my clan pestilens, to have a darker colour to contrast with the lightish green cloaks, i have gone up from schorched brown, mixing in a small amount of dwarf flesh each time i wish to go up in colour. it looks pretty good, it still has a bestial appearance, not appearing to humanoid.
