Here's a WIP pic of my next marine. I'm slowly leaning in the direction of a DIY legion with aesthetics based in the pre-heresy period, but without the restrictions of making a purely Pre-heresy army. Of course, they'll still be dedicated to Slaanesh.
Anyway, with bits from chaos fantasy, space marines, and chaos marines, here's my next guy:
UPDATE: Ok, I've scrapped the old project - here's the new WIP. I'm pretty happy with this one. By using the Chaos Fantasy front piece with the cloakpiece I can pull off the illusion of shoulderpads without actually having them.
I'm also considering doing all beakies.... I just love em!

*The token German*
Torn between Emperors Children, Blood angels and space wolves now
Stratches head~ whats witht the body? Twohead eagle and all, ain't Chaosy. Good paint and all man, but the body! Heretic! (oh wait you are a heretic...)
Lictor: They are during-heresy marines, didn't have much time to defile their armour when there was an Imperium to crush and an Emperor to throw down
Looks good btw, but where are his shoulder pads?
...and of course the Emperor's Children were the only legion pre herresy that were granted the right to use the Aquilla on armour.
What could be more chaosy than slaughtering those of the imperium while wearing their own iconography? My legion's symbol is more or less going to be the imperial eagle with the chaos symbol behind it.Originally Posted by LictorInTheGrass
Here's an excerpt from my fluff concerning their aesthetic choices:
"Much of the Imperial iconography is still utilized to confuse their foes as well as serve as a blasphemous display for those whose faith remains with the decrepit carcass of the false Emperor. Though it was this same man who bestowed the insignia upon them millennia ago, the Sons of Maldoror employ its use to this day as a reminder to all whose countenance falls upon them that it is their Emperor who is ultimately responsible for their dooms - either by the hand of Maldoror and his warriors or by their wasted existence in slavery to a pathetic, withered man-god. This is standard practice throughout the ranks, though those in the 9th Company are otherwise free to express themselves however they deem fit and will often combine their ancient heraldry with various embellishments to their power armor."
...as for the shoulder pads, that's turning out to be a problem because only half of the upper arm is exposed due the the cloak and the upper-body being a single piece from the fantasy sprue. I'm likely going to do some cutting on a shoulder pad to fit over it to bulk it up, and use GS to create studs. It's taking more work than I expected but I think the end result will be nice.
Update: Yeah, so it turns out this build isn't going to work if I want shoulder-pads that look like marine pads... argh. Ah well... I'll work on a new version tonight. Thanks for all your comments.
