Here's my nearly finished orc, and I'm mainly just looking of comments on the main colors. It's an archer, you can probably tell by the bow. I still need to do a few final details, like the boots and bow. I'm going to painting the unpainted metal remain some kind of a brass color. Hopefully it turns out alright.
This is the first model I've painted for about five years, so don't be too harsh on the messy bits.
The base looks ugly. The original plan was to do a desert scheme, but it came out look worse than what it is now. I'm hoping that it wont look so bad with some flock on it.
Edit: I lie, this is the first 28mm model I've done, as I've done a few 15mm
I like it, pretty good paint job!:w00t:
By day he fought with sword and shield.....
By night he fought with pen and parchment.....
He was....The Warrior Poet.......
Fear the ANZAC Clan!!!!!
ORDER OF THE SHADOWY FLAME!!!
Do you have uber micro...????
Hope you dont plan to have the bow metal, Im not sure I uderstanded you corectly...
Any way the color sheme looks good to me.
But I think it need some contrast, maby some red? This is just my opinion and I like coloerfull models.
The bow is going to be a light wooden colour. When it's finished it should hopefully look a bit brighter. Also, the jerkin is a bit darker than I would have liked.
The majority of the other models I've painted have had predominantly red, blue and/or yellow clothing, so I wanted to try something different.
I like the base actually. Looks like he's standing on rock. How'd you do it?
HMM.. Not badly painted. I am unsure of the colours, the light cream/white colour does not suit orcs in my opinion and is too clean for them. But that it your choice. The highlights on the cloth are hard to see, I would have made them a big lighter or darkened the cloth a tone or two. The brown looks fine from what I can see but agin I dislike the skin, in my opinion it is too dark for an orc boy and more a Black Orc. Again this is personal preferance.
For the base look at the snow thread but add some brown paint and drybrush with lighter browns. Welcome back to painting I know what its like to take a loooooong break and then getting back in the orc look good I have to say I like the drab look I suits orcs IMHO
The base was first covered in spakfilla, then painted brown and drybushed to bleached bone. Any wood filler would probably work the same.
I'll try highlighting the cloth up from a darker base on the next couple I paint. I've done the skin on a couple more, and they turned out a touch brighter.
He's cool. I bet he looks great at actual size. I paint 15mm for other people and they always look shoddy when inflated to 3x their size in photos.
The colours are fine but maybe make the waistcoat bit a more contrasting colour? This is also a good way to distinguish different units once they're on the table.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
