Th kroot look like Bleached Bone, and the Tau seem to be using Codex or Fortress Grey and Blood Red. (and Skull White) I would use white primer, then do the Kroot in Bleached Bone, paint the darker heads and weapons, do detailing, and highlight. Maybe very lightly green ink the bleached one areas...

Its hard to make out the specific colors from so far away, but it looks like the main torsos are painted grey (codex grey?) with black trim and white heads. The weapons are white with red trim. Without closer shots its hard to get specific.
I'd probably prime white for ease of painting. Then paint the main bodies grey and the trim or small panels paint black. Avoid getting any paint on the weapons and any areas to be painted red. Then trim the weapon's small panels or borders red. For extra detail, apply black ink to the panel lines. Hope that helps a little.
i saw the scheme and was thinking about using it but i have another one i like as well now so i have to decide.
