I love the highlights on the wings, the gray is really good. You have a interesting base.
I think the blue looks a little flat, I think it shod have looked better with more shades/highlights. Or its the color it self. I’m just not sure.
I love the dead guys
Its still something about it that is missing... hard to say its just the imprison that I get. It can be because of the blue. Nice dragon eye by the way.
Hope I give you something to think about. It is a nice model.
Well the problem is the dragon is supposed to be pearlescent blue ( not an easy color to achieve and even harder to photograph) Normally I dull coat all my mini's but I thought the dull coat might ruin the pearl effect, so I took a pic first, but the lights seemed to have sheened off the glossy type finish.Originally Posted by AndEng
I will take some more pics after it is dull coated and see how they look. And thanks everyone for the comments!
I dont know, I'm still pretty inexperienced myself. I've always valued constructive critisizm over compliments though.
I agree about the blue. At first i thought the color palette was too small but looking harder at it it, really it is the flatness of the blue. Perhaps if you inked it with black and gave the texture more depth. I get the impression its a larger sized model, if it is, maybe you can hghlight the scales in a pearlescent purple or something.
You may want to paint something (scrap) with that blue and test the dullcoat...I think it would actually improve the effect. If I'm not mistaken pearlescence is achieved in a paint with very fine metal dust, like a metalic but finer. If you got rid of the glare perhaps the paints true nature would be more apparant. Either way, you will be hard pressed to photograph pearl colors.
The highlighting on the wings IS very nice as is the other parts of the dragin, mouth etc. The base could use some more color, perhaps on the rocks, but overall is very nice. The crystals are well done.
