I'm trying to get opinions on how I should paint and dip a 'nids army with pink as one of the main colors. What would you do? I mean, like what other colors should I use, what kind of dip might work better, etc.
And if you had to build a 'nid army for a newbie, what would you get??

For a colour scheme I would Liech (lich? I can't remember the spelling) purple for the carapace and armour looking bits, then use tentacle pink for arms and 'fleshy' bits. Ink wash this with maybe a light brown so it isn't so barbie and you're away.
(I bet your sister will like the barbie part- I read your other post)
I'm not so sure about that. >.> I got her to surf GW's site before we decided that she was gonna play to and she picked 'nids cause she found them to be "cute."
Oh, and she thought the Eldar looked weird and the Witchhunters looked ugly. Was a suprise really.
im not that sure about dipping the models after youve painted them but i do understand the process.Personally I would use a contrast to the pink like blue or purple even. The best way to start a nid army though is what GW tell you, buy the battleforce and the codex to start.
hope this helps a bit

Do slaanesh nids!!! Lol that would be awesome.
Yeah i think black for the flesh and pink (tentacle pink) for the carapace. And for your highlights mix in abit of white with your pink.
It would look pretty cool actually.
Behold my nids, the follows of slaanesh!
I think it would look good if you made it kindof blend with soem purple and blue .. They do it effectively on quite a few of the rackham Dirz minis. They end up with a color that looks like a body thats been starved for oxygen. :x
I guess you could call it more of a lavender color mostly...I dont know. I think light light pink with blue/purple is the way to go though. Then use bluish grey for the carapaces.
I wish I could find a link to a picture of the Abomination, they use a lot of very light pink on that model, blended with some blues and purples and even some very pastel bright green. NICE.

I threw all the suggestions at my sister, and she came back with tentacle pink, warlock purple and red ink. I have to get her a spraycan of white later as a primer, and I think I'll get some other can to dust the figures lightly with.
I'm a little stumped on how to make a color scheme out of the colors she bought though.
Just have warlock purple flesh and tentacle pink carapace.Should look nice although i still say you go for the cult of slaanesh steelers! :lol:Originally Posted by Swordy
But i dont know where the red ink will come in.I dont see how that will do any good.
I play Slannesh, so I use pink on all my models..
I use a fairly quick and dirty method myself.. Start by painting the whole thing scab red, then lightly brush layers of tentacle pink with successively more white in each layer over the top.
I did a nid army ages ago and used pink for some bits.. I'd leave it as a minor colour, myself, and keep the major colour softer. Warlock purple is going to be a bit lurid on its own, tone it down with some liche purple afterwards maybe..
Actually.. that's not bad. Pink fleshy bits, and pale (pastelly) purple carapace..
As for the red ink, you could smear a bit over the pink flesh.. it might give an icky effect. Not sure though.
