Hi guys & maybe gals
I am looking for some tips on efective looking bases especially in the grass areas.
How do you guys make the grass turf look so real like blades of grass?
Any pics would be great
You would probably be interested in static grass. Games Workshop makes some as well as other hobby companies. A big one that comes to mind is woodland scenics. Basically you can find it at any model railroad shop.
As to its application. I add a bit of glue and then sprinkle on the static grass. I then blow in an upwardly direction from below the model while turning it. This will cause the static grass to stand up in different directions.
It can be applied after the model is finished or you can apply it before you paint and then paint it up in different colors. This is really good if you want dead grass or any other "unusual" coloring.

Also slorak has a nice guide in his website on coek basing. Although it may be a little hard for begginers it would be fun for a try.
Yeah I think that would be a bit hard for begginners (great guide though).Originally Posted by spongebob
Remember, if you want your models to look goo, then remember *you must take the time.
Static grass is great, but can be a bit tough. GW makes some I believe (but I wood look at other stores first).
