Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey all! ive recently been looking at my current warboss model and im dissapointed. hes too generic and plain! and a warboss should be the most tricked out part of your army! so ive been thinking, what should i do to make a blood axe warboss? i already have a basic plan. im going to take either the warboss or grimgors body. then i will either use the bald warboss's head or grimgors head. then i will mold a little commissars hat on it. then i will try to mold a commissars coat on his back, and badges on his chest, so it makes him look like hes imitating a commissar! now for his arms i only have an idea for one arm. i want him to have him to be holding a heavy bolter with one arm, keeping the but against his side, to make him look like hes ready to fire it. now this leaves me with no ideas for his other arm at all. any good ideas for his arm? also any easy ways to sculpt stuff? ive never used greenstuff before, so im worried its gonna be hard. also any other imperial units that i could easily imitate with nobs? suggestions overall? keep in mind i want him to be as serious as an ork can be, nothing goofy! he needs to look dead ard'! not like a clown! thanks a lot!
In the other arm, have him clutching a BIG axe.. you are blood axes.. Your boss just HAS to have an axe!

I was always a big fan of the cigar in the mouth also, which should not be too hard to mould with greenstuff.
I have a little exp with greenstuff so if you have any questions just pm me away.........
ah orks, my old army..
i used a converted Grimgor for my warboss, hes an excellent choice in my opinion as he isnt too hard to convert for 40k, and he has quite a different look to other 40k ork bosses. I reckon your best bet would be to lope his left arm off (the one holding the head) at the elbow and either replace it with a bionic arm or 'built on' big shootah, or perhaps replace it with a new arm holding a gun or even a cigar (like chemicalcaveman suggested, as thatd fit in nicely with commissar look). The jacket and hat shouldnt be 'too' hard to make and would definately give him some pazzaz. Id also consider adding green stuff to his boots to make them look more like imperial issued one (not only for the commissar look, but because the original blisters boots do look a bit 'knighty', and i reckon theyd b pretty easy to change to look like the ones worn by Cadian guardsmen. The armor he wears is a little un40kish, but i just added some bits and bobs from my bitz box to cover it up, such as a ork shoulder pad over his belt buckle to give it a more futuristic look. Also now im looking at a picture of Grimgor, you may even wanna consider cutting his left arm off right at the shoulder, and then redoing the whole arm so his upper arm comes down along the side of his chest, then from the elbow own extents out holding a shootah or something, with the butt of the gun pressed up against his side like the Tallarn Lietenant blister (click 'tallarn lietenant' to see a picture of what i mean, (the one on the left))
Thanks a lot all! these are some great suggestions! i especially like the sound of the cigar, itll make him look like a rough and tumble imperial general! keep the suggestions coming, and thanks again!
Ickee, if you can get a copy of the black libraries comic "Deff Squadron" there is a war boss in there that is excatly what you are looking for. In my mind he is exactly what an ork wearing IG gear should look like.......
Great comic too, god i love ork fighter pilots, is there anything better?
Commissars are often used to get hidden powerfists, so an orky powerfist could be an interesting addition. Make sure it doesn't just look like another power claw though, I meant a "real" fist. You coulf possibly use Tyrus' fist as a base, it's for Inquisitor so it's in 54mm scale.
Why not just use an Ogre Kingdom's Iron fist if you want a powerfist looking thing?

i like the idea of a power fist, im gonna have to look for a better pic of that one you showed me though. i cant tell size. it needs to be the right size or it will look stupid.
