Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay so I'm flocking some bases earlier, and I forget to do the sides.
So I'm looking at it, and I think to myself, well that looks silly, so I PVA it up, and flock the sides.
Do you flock the sides of your bases ?
Just want to see if I'm right.

I don't flock the sides of my bases... then again, I don't flock the bases at all. I base with sand which is then painted up in either green or sand tones depending on what I'm painting.
But I leave the sides of the base clean as I think it looks too chunky with flock/sand/whatnot on them. I do however paint the sides in a colour matching the basing colour.
For examples, see http://www.godzilla.se/40k/ig.html
I think my aversion for wholy flocked bases is due to my days of Blood Bowl playing. If the sides were based, it would soon ruin the styrofoam field you got in 2nd edition BB. Playing was just smoother with "clean" bases.
i think flocking the side's of your bases depent's on what you think look's best.
so if you think it looks like ***** whitout flocking the side's than flock the side's.
by the way i don't have flock but i think i wouldn't flock the side's
I prefer to only flock the top of the bases and just paint the sides in an appropriate colour...
For me it's usually goblin green or some brown tone.
i use static grass and i usually do a small clump on top, but i dont cover the whole top of the base, just so it looks like theres a patch of grass there

I only use flock and sand on the top of the base, the edges get handled to much so I just paint the base edges in hunter green / goblin green.
"Da Orks is da best cuz we ar ded ard an killy, mean, green, krumpin machines, hav da most dakka, da stompiest dreads, da shootiest gunz, da biggest bosses, an we uze choppas...WAAAGH!"
I use flock and sand on my base not edges though but on most of my models I just paint the base
And if you all want to know how I do the rest of the bases I cover them with sand and then just patch up with static grass on that again.
Personally, i glue on sand before basecoating. I basecoat black, then paint the sand to look grey. I then glue some static grass on top, and paint the sides of the base goblin green. I once tried flocking the side of the base, but i prefer the look if i don't.

I use the same approach on all my minis:
After basecoating the whole mini in black (and after having painted the mini) I add sand to the top of the base. When dry I paint it with watered down Flesh Ink. This provides natural shading and it looks like mud. Then I add small areas of static grass and finally I paint the sides of the base Scorched Brown.
