    Standard Banners...

Just wondering, been playing WarHammer for about a month now, I have some special characters and a command that come with a standard pole, standard top, but no banner. I checked components, and banner isn't included, wondering if any one has tips on making them, what to use, etc. or where I can get some. The ones I've seen on the site are all themed on the armies they are from, or have a top already connected, etc...

You're supposed tp make your own, but I guess you know that now. I know a lot of people get paper and make their own, usually painting them. I made my own from extra cloth in my Home Ec. class last year for extra credit, and they're still in use today.

if you have a steady hand or access to a light wand, then id use painter for your banners, you make them up a4 size then copy and paste them to a word doc then shrink them down till you get the size you want.

you'll find that those thick lines turn into teeny little ones when shrunk

alternatively if you have photoshop you can use this to make your own up.

It isn't too hard to make your own, my method has a great bonus!

First, get a bottle of wine with a cork and tin foil around the top, not plastic.

Next, open bottle and sample contents. I recommend a nice Verdehlo for painting.

Then, use the foil to make the banner. It should be quite pliable and it will undercoat well.

When cut to size, and undercoated, pencil the design on. then paint away.

After the paint has really cured, you may GENTLY bend the tin to shape. the bits at the top where it loops over the crossbar may need a touch up.

Here is what I ended up with. Hope this helps mate.

    I've used several methods:

    1. I repainted over the old sticker Dark Angel banners from 2nd Ed.

    2. Penciled and painted a massive banner for my Defiler.

    3. Used a computer and nice printer.

Either way, if the materials are too floppy, hardcoat the paper.

i guess putty does work, and i would go about this by rolling it out on wax paper, letting it cure and gluing. if you want to experiment, go for it. just remember to post pics.

Here is what i have found to be most useful. Go to a hobby shop ( not a gw) and ask if they have plastic card. They will. Ask for the thinest kind they have and tell them you are going to make a flag for a miniature. Then use either heat or pressure to ben it to the shape you want. Then prime it and paintaway.
