[EDIT: Pics now at bottom of page]
everyone here sounds nice and knowledgeable so I wondor if I could trawl for a few ideas
I have my own (still unnamed!!) Marine chapter I created in about 1991, I've just come back into painting after a big gap and I see methods have improved since I left . . . . .
Anyway, the scheme is White on the left hand side, Regal blue on the right, with the helmet swopped (right to left, and left to right), gun casing in blood red with boltgun mechanism bits.
Now this is my plan for painting them, I'm halfway through one right now but I want to know where I might be going wrong.
Whole Marine: Skull White undercoat.
50/50 grey white mix for aditional shading, all except deep cracks.
25/75 grey white for panels
100% white for broad highlights
Blue ink wash
regal blue for panels again
25/75 enchanted blue / regal for highlights
50/50 as above
75/25 as above
Now does this sound all wise to you guys? I haven't painted in atleast 5 years so I forgot half of what I knew, I have been reading this place lots + the GW books on painting and some other forums + my friend used to work for GW Brighton and he's helping out (His damn fault I started again, got me to play Man-O-War and rehooked me)
Thanks V much for any help in advance

Sounds pretty good.
Try it out and show some pics.
cant see anything wrong with this...
maybe go up to pure enchanted blue ore even ad some white for really extreme parts.
Any way I don’t know the rations when I mix my paints so I cant help you there.
Sounds good mate. I also would be tempted to add some white for the final highlight of the blue. I would like to see a pic when you have finished the first one.
Beware the Agapanthers!
Codex Astartes: More a guideline than a rule...
85% done on the first one now - I'll get some pics taken over the weekend and post them up for you all to go 'ooo ahhh' or more likely 'euwww ick' to ASAP
I think I'll be in the "Oooo, aaaah!" camp. This sounds a very good colour scheme, and I'd like to see it put into practice. I very much look forward to viewing your 'photos.
I do apologise. My previous signature was positively turd. Let's hope this'll be better.
Aw, crap. I failed.
Well here we go for pics - sorry about the quality but it was only a camera phone - bit of trouble with over exposure on the white parts.
As for the painting - I'm pleased with this one really - it's only the second model I've painted in years so the next few will be better.
Problems: First off the initial highlighting of the blue was too light, it was only 75/25 regal/enchanted blue , but that appears to still be too light for the initial layer, I'll have to try 80/20 or something next time.
Second - my mate pointed out the red on the bolter was a bit too bright - it's blood red now but maybe red gore would be better? Your thoughts?
I was really really pleased witht the backpack - sadly that has come out the most blurred! Never mind eh

Really cool! Highlight the bolter.
Awsome! you might want to paint the trim of the shoulder gaurds to add a little more color:hump:
Thx for the feedback people
I'm just painting another at the mo - then have the sergeant lined up, then the others I'll do production line style, once I do I'll come back with some better pictures to impress and some fluff
I've had a few questions: Chapter symbol is 95% certian a squared off infinity symbol - will decide for sure soon and paint it on along with the company/squad marks.
Chapter name -
Tempestus Principalis :ninja:
