Okay, here is the story. A while back I started a DIY chapter, the Intrepid Alchemists. Basically it's a normal marine army using traits system, but instead of Chaplains, Commanders, librarians & techmarines, I take Alchemists. For example, I will take an alchemist who has focused upon hth combat & use the chaplain stats.
The thing is, I want to have some really good models & conversions to represent my Alchemists. All the Alchemists are meant to have made their own custom armour from rare materials on the chapter's home planet. My current idea is to buy these guys from rackham.
& then convert them a little, give them marine heads & backpacks ect. (Representing force commander/chaplain with twin lightening claws)
However, I have no idea if these guys are the right scale to perform such a conversion. Could anyone with the knowledge please help me out? I am not concerned if the heads are a LITTLE tiny, but if it's gonna look rediculous...Also, if any of you have any other cool ideas of your own on how I can create my Alchemists, please share them.
Thanks a lot.
PS - These guys will not be used in tournaments so it doesn't bother me that they're not GW.

I seem to remember Rackham minis being slightly bigger than GWs. Those models do look quite big however, so I'm not sure marine heads would work.
To be honest, outside of the Rackham mythos, I'm not sure those guys scream 'alchemist' to me.
They look way too big and i more like Chaos damons than anything else, and like he said before it doesnt look like alchemy at all.
I'm not entirely convinced with that. Now, I'm not sure exactly what an Alchemist would look like in the 41st Millennium, but I don't think it'd be that.
Also, I believe that they'd look out of place next to Marines. I'm at a loss as to an alternative, however.
I do apologise. My previous signature was positively turd. Let's hope this'll be better.
Aw, crap. I failed.

The top guy looks like he could work as a librarian to me, though I'd suggest removing the shoulder spikes, and the symbols on those three round things (don't know what to call them) look very Eldar-ish to me.
I don't know the scale at all but they look to be rather large.
Actually I just looked at the website and it says they're 32mm (on average), so they probably would be too large, since citadel miniatures are 28mm.
Revenge is a dish best served with mayonnaise and those little cheesy things on sticks.

4mm won't really matter. Sure they'll be bigger than normal marines, but that's the idea, they have to stand out because they're the leaders. As for the eldar symbols, I could green stuff them over & put some transmutation circles on them.

Well first of all I think the models look quite cool. They look very chaotic though. The first model (the one with the sword) even seems to have variations of the slaneesh symbols on his armour.? The idea of having Alchemists is a bit Tzeentchy as well (Maybe the Chapter could be corrupted?) Having them slightly bigger isn't to much of a problem if they are characters.

the first two look like they could be slaneesh or tzeencth terminators
