does anybody know what colour to add to scorched brown to make lighter but not pink

Not... pink? Succesive mixes of scorched brown and bestial brown works.
Yes, I find that highlighting scorched brown with bestial brown, followed by an extreme highlight of vermin brown looks GREAT! If it looks too light for you, you can always mellow it out with a wash of thinned brown ink.

I agree with the guys above, depending on which colour you want.
Starting with Scorched Brown(S mixed with choas Black, then highting up to pure SB then either Bestial or Vermin. Bestial needs only a small amount in the mix with SB as it is quite a dominant colour, so watch out for that.
Definately don't use Bleached bone or Skull White or you'll get that horrible pinky colour you mentioned.
