Finally, something to do with all those AOL CDs you get in the mail! Old CDs can make a great base for terrain. I have uploaded an image in the terrain gallery. The marine in the emplacement was provided to give some scale. For all of the CDs I fill the hole in with a piece of plasticard.
The sandbag emplacement was built up using plastic sandbags, 1/35 scale from Tamiya.
The 'rubble' base is what I place down between ruined building corners (provided in the basic 40K game set). The CD was bordered with plasticard to make a square-like base. Chunks of plastic and odd brick pieces (again from 1/35 scale Tamiya sets) were glued to the CD.
The other set of junk on a base is what I throw down if my vehicles wreck and are destroyed (funny how Ork buggies do just that). Just enough height to block LOS and provide some cover for troops.
The crater was built up using cut Styrofoam. The Styrofoam was coated in white glue and sand to provide a rough texture, and finally painted.
The tree base is actually a CD cut up and the edges rounded a bit. I found the plastic to provide a very sturdy base for my trees.
'But for corruption thou hast made Belial, an angel of hostility. All his dominions are in darkness, and his purpose is to bring about wickedness and guilt. All the spirits that are associated with him are but angels of destruction.
Good idea, and an exelent use for those pescy cd's.
You like never use em anyway...
Another thing, the cd's can also be used for large model bases, but I recon you allready knew that...

I WAS IN THE IMPERIAL (Norwegian) GUARD!
This is funny
i'm using my spoiled CDs (mostly bad burning) to make a big base for 3 bikes...
I will make a big base with rectangles for the bike's bases so i can move all three at once- and it'll look cooler
A word of warning though: a CD is about the same size as a ordnance template, so if you place a squad in this terrain your opponent will be sure they will all fit under said template.
its just 3 bikes...
and i m not going to treat it as a whole base, more like a "stand", if you get wot i mean
I use old aol cds for bases too. I make big jungle trees out of cable wire and plaster with silk leaves and base them on an old aol cd. I also use them for craters. Its funny cause I went to my dads one weekend and he gave me a stack of 12 aol cds he got from the mail.
i need to know what kind of stuff you can make using cd's as bases, and also a link to any pictures or website guides to making them

i have once seen somewhere on the internet that someone had used a cd as base and he had made a big jungle piece of it, and his big mini standing in a mud/swamp poole. i cant remember where it was from, but it had a lot of self made and found things on it, like logs and litle leaves and the swamp pool was really well done.
