A friend of mine who is really good at painting models but sucks at making terrain is going to paint my army if I make him a battlefield. Because painting an army is a longer task than making a battlefield, I am paying for the materials for the battlefield, so I need to be cost efficient.
Anyway, he plays the undead in fantasy warhammer (i play 40k). I thought about like a zombie field. my plain is to take a 4' by 4' board and get some decaying grass colored cloth over it. Then i'll take some model trees and stuff and take off a lot of the "leaves" and spray paint the remaining leaves brown (to give it a dead look). then i will take some bushes and rocks and ***** to hide behind. but to make it the zombie battlefield, i was thinking of taking some skeleton pieces and some elf or human pieces and i would mix them together like you would with Lost and the Damned mutant bits. I would only make the upper body of them and then i would glue them to a little dirt hole around the tables and make them look like theyre coming out of the ground. then i could some cardboard and spraypaint it gray and etch little squiggle marks (yes, i said squiggle) and cut them up into tiny little headstones. i was thinking of making a graveyard too. it would just be a bunch of little headstones with little guys popping out. i could also just have like an arm coming out, to make it look likes hes digging himself out. what do you think?
looks like a huge job, are you going to paint it too, or is ur buddy doing that?
could you explain a little more:i think i know what you mean, but it looks so complicated...i was thinking of taking some skeleton pieces and some elf or human pieces and i would mix them together like you would with Lost and the Damned mutant bits.
I like this Idea and I read something like it in a White Dwarf issue. If you use the spikes blister from the chaos Rhino set you can make a Cool fence around the graveyard.Originally posted by EldaRulEveryone@Dec 14 2003, 00:29

Also the Mutated blister from the chaos set would be very useful, the mutated heads, claws and tails poking out of the groun would ***** me up.
my friends gunna paint the guys coming out and any extra details he wants too (stuff on trees, stuff in bushes, so on). its not really complicated, its just like making a Lost and the Damned army, 'cept there would only be like 20 guys, and each one would only be the upper half of the body or an arm or head. just little bits glued together to make zombies glued to the ground in little holes (i would take little pebbles and some dirt and glue them together into a ring shape around where the zombie will be coming out).
Sounds like a pretty sweet idea.
I have to admit that that 'circle of stones' Idea is pretty tempting, and its easy. I might try that one, and perhaps do it on a mound where there is a headstone.
sounds good, maybe you could try and make a sort of moseleum as wel
(you know a tomb chamber) from kartbox or something.
just an idea
Perhaps It could be a piece of terrain, that hurts. something like the venus man-trap I've often seen being used. when you are within Range you have to role a Die, If it is a one, one model is trapped inside. This one could be a diseased half-buried plague bearer! Step too close and your unit is diseased!
Hey it sounds real cool. I would definitly do the grave yard and the bodys popping up everywhere. It will add a nice touch. And looks real good with a undead army.
nice idea now heres one for you and its cheap a little bit dangerous so any children out there get an adult to do this for you YES IM VERY SERIOUS all will be explained
go to B&Q or any large hardware stockist they will have 8'by4' 50mm polystyrene sheets use this as your base.
this is the dangerous part
get a spray paint can and a wooden taper light the taper and using the spray paint flash seal the polystyrene (be warned it takes a bit of practice to get this right) then cover the whole thing in thinned down wall filler let it set then spraypaint as normal and you have one great looking board on the cheap, for all you 40k'rs out there you can also use this method to make a battlefield full of shell holes butyou will find out what i mean when you practice this
[SIZE=14]WHEN YOU DO THIS HAVE A BUCKET OF WATER HANDY
AND [B]DONT HOLD THE TAPER TOO CLSE TO THE CAN IT WILL SUCK BACK INTO IT ABOUT 7'' AWAY IS FINE :a
