im new to collecting warhammer and would greatly appreciate some painting tips on how to paint tyranids and grey knights effectivaly using oranges and blacks.

What advise are you looking for specificly? Be a bit more specific and you will probably recieve better help.
One bit of advise I have for painting orange - Use a white primer and the orange will cover better and look more vibrant.
Generic help: Keep your paints thin (with water, extender, medium, etc.) to about the consistency of heavy cream. Basically you want the paint to go on smooth and not leave brush strokes or look clumpy.

Yeah, with out a bit more specifiction in the question, it'll bea little hard to help. But my off the cuff advice is don't be afreaid to experiement.
Also, keep notes... I go through periods where I don't have time to paint for quite a while. I always told myself "Oh I'll remeber how I did that..." yeah I never do..
