Half painting - half conversion this one.
I have an idea for a conversion - but I'm not sure if it's possible - the relevent question is: Has anyone ever made - or knows how to make - a transparent banner?
I want the effect of a holographic banner, so a thin plastic frame around the outside, then some sort of transparent medium on the inside. It's so that I can out a banner on a jump packed character without him looking daft
The transparent part should be easy enough once you work out the mechanics of the frame. Just cut a piece from a blister and paint/draw on it with transclucent inks.
for this id do really small balsa wood or plasic sprue or plasicard for the frame. for the inside, maybe a piece of ceran wrap with some elmers on it (very little) to give it a texture to paint on... or possibly a piece of clear plastic (you can get it at lows or a home improvement place of your choice). good idea though.
ooh, another idea is to use really thin fabric. the stuff where you can still see the mesh. that way it looks like theres the projectors focusing the light in the design, and depending on the fabric you get, you'll still be able to see through it.
"how many autocannon shots at my deamon prince?"
"11 guns... im consolidating my army because nothing else can hurt it."
'' that seems excessive"
"not when you think about the damage that damn monstrosity will enact upon my feeble weakling humans. FIRE THE REALLY BIG GUNS!"
Ah great ideas - thanks guys
I did consider printing off a PC onto a transparency - that would work - and would look quite good in the end I think but the only problem is it *will* look printed, and therefore not really in style with the rest of the piece.
Anyone think the idea is too lame to work? He'll be my Company Commander (Marines of course) so I want him to look good - the rest of the conversion should be sweet but as he'll be jump packed - getting the traditional banner on would be hard . . . . ..
