    Converting My Alchemist

I've ordered this guy from Rackham & he arrived this morning.

I now need to convert him so that he looks more like a marine. So far I have green stuffed down the symbols on the front & given him an actual power sword.

Could you please suggest how else I could make him more marine-like please? I want to get a general concensus of what is the best way forward before I commit to cutting him up.

    Thanks.

    Safe as Clarts.

Nice model choice! Besides the symbols, have you considered building up his shoulder pad area with GS? Marines have those large armor should pads and what not - I don't know about the points on the current shoulders tho. You may want to think about how they would look if they were shorter in heigt. Beyond that, a custom built backpack (instead of standard jump pack) might be about it. The model itself if already very impressive and your power sword will help tie it in to 40K. Beyond that, I'd think that might suffice. Great idea though - and good luck!

You could put some tubing on his helmet. From where the mouth should be and backwards. You could also add the earthingie that goes around the neck.
Some tubing from the sword and up along the arm, painted in the classic yellow/black stripes would also 40K-ify him, they always do.

probably cut the point things off the shoes. those looke wierd for a marine. other than that, build up the areas of armor and such so it is more like a marine in shape.

side note but if that is 40k size it would make an awesome Tzeentch lord/ Daemonprince or LaTD HQ.

I'd like to ask you some questions about this mini; 1) where did you get the mini, and 2) give me the mini. Seriously, that thing would make a sweet radical Inquisitor or warrior bodyguard, what scale is it and where did you get it from?

As fas as making him more marine-like I'd go with chopping the points off his shoes and building up the armour a bit so he's chunkier. It's hard to see how you'd get a bolter or anything else into his hands to be honest, and he's a bit spiky for a Marine. Awesome mini though.

It's a Rackham miniature from http://www.rackham-store.com. He's from the GRIFFONS D'AKKYLANNIE army. The models are slightly larger than GW minatures, but have more realistic proportions, so his head is smaller than a normal marine's would be. I chose this model to be a Librarian/Alchemist so he doesn't need a bolter.

I didn't know if the tubing-on-helmet idea made any sense so I made a rough scetch in Photoshop.

I think it makes him look more Marine-ish.
This, the shoes and a backpack, then maybe take the pointy from the shoulderpads as they are a bit chaothic.
