i am beginning an oriental themed space marine army. i am not able to find good bits for converting more of my models... if u have any ideas, miniatures, or bitz that would be use- full it would be great
I am making the scouts ninja's and painting bamboo backpacksi also thought of converting my company champion into a samuri and my apothecary into an herbalist. i dont know how to make my master look like a daimyo though. i could really use some help with ideas and techniques to convert my army!!!
i would use the khandish king head limbs and armor for your army, if your good with green stuff you should be able to get a good variety of posses if you do some hacking apart at limbs of that model, ( you can buy the bit now no need to buy full chariot set ...wait). maybe chariots as bikers with easterling catapghrank steeds as a explination for power armor. the flags on the backs of the khandish warriors will be key i say add them to all your guys except your apothecarry and scouts. To TOP It OFF, Dragon Dreadnaught, spewing flame at short or long range is an excuse( maybe count it as a furiuso dred) or maybe just tanks thats have dragon details , the khandish back banners and maybe some japanese sigals. hope i was helpful.
thankyou for the reply but, i was hesitant to use lotr miniature parts because they are a different scale, 40k is 28mm while lotr is 25mm scale making it tough to use the khandish king because i dont want my champion to be smaller than the rest of my command squad! thankyou for the ideas though!
i agree, simply adding back banners would go a long way to making them look oriental- would be visually very impressive if they all had them too!

It has been tried before, years ago. Have a look in the Space Marine collectors' book; there might be something there. If I remember rightly, the chap used back banners (rectangular banners in a gallows-shaped frame with side post and one cross piece), wicker-looking rectangular plates on the thighs (like doormats or cricket pads) and painted long droopy moustaches on his men. The occasional marine with a katana or a pair of swords on his belt would look good too. You could even use Dark Angels veterans, chop off the hooded heads and paint their robes like those dressing-gown things samurai used to wear (I forget the word).
A possible assassin or scout leader: one ancient assassin model is very clearly a ninja, together with black hood and flip flops. He'll also be in the collector's book. Good luck.
