You would need some massivly powerful magnets, if you have the money it might be done.
Rare earth mags would do it - and cheaply - thing is the whole thing will flip over without some guideropes to keep it in place. Remember that the other end is trying to attract . .. .
It would look really cool if you had some really light chain holding them on. I'm sure you could even find plastic chain somewhere that would be light enough to not effect the magnet power.
It would be cool to see it floating about in game.
That would be freaking AWSOME

An'Gorath's World Eaters 3/0/2
Sigurd GreatFang's Wulfen Host 7/4/3
Those are the kind of magnets you want to be using I think. Perhaps try the 'Neodymium Opposite Polarity Magnets' only the 1 pole so the thing won't be trying to flip over and attract. And if your rare earth magnet latches onto another, its going to do so with force and might break your model.
It is possible and extremely cool, but I think you'd also have to be very careful about balance?
If its hovering slight weight imbalances might make it wobble over.
Moving it might be a pain too.
If you ever make one take a short video of it! :w00t: Would make for an excellent mini.

When I say jump you don't ask me 'How high?' maggot! You jump!
I can't cite chapter and verse on this, but some time back, either on this site or over on 40k Online, someone posted the math and the short answer is: it can't be done. There's just no way to properly balance it. You can approximate the effect, though, by "tying" it down with thread, but IMHO, that ruins the effect.
Seriously if can master the preciseness required to actually have something levitate via magnetism like that...
Patent the idea and make a fortune. The possibilities are a lot wider than mere tabletop gaming.
Oh. And send me a couple thousand off your first million. I'm not greedy.
