i am looking for something that i can cut with an x-acto knife, isn't too hard to cut, as i cut lots of windows, and needs to be somewhat sturdy. if anyone can help me, this would be great. i find that cardboard suck. i am making a Cityfight table, so i need alot.
Foam Core Board is what I use, it's fairly sturdy, and cuts somewhat easily. Also glues very easily. Check the local craft stores, the last sheet I bought (about the size of posterboard) was like $2 US
If you want to spend a little more could also use Balsa wood, it's a little harder to cut, but doesn't have the foam middle of foam core.

I've found two options
1) construction paper, gives you nice edges and takes paint well,
2) Krylon's Fake Stone Spray finish, I water down white glue over the exposed foam, just to be safe, and spray it over the foam core, gives a nice Faux Stone finish.
3) You could always use modeling clay/putty like green stuff over the exposed foam too.
What i'd recommend get some of the krylon, take a small test strip of the foam core and spray it, I know spray paint usually eats foam...not sure if the Faux Stone will, let me know if it works :-)
Glad to be of help.
Another tip i use for foam core, I have a no-slip ruler i bought for like $1 US at a store, use that and push pins in the corners of your walls to get nice straight cuts, it will help you stay in line and make the final product look much better, and if you use slightly longer pins will give you an outline on the back of the foamboard to cut through on the other side that will reduce tearing of the outer construction paper.
My blast template of S10 AP2 will toast all terminators.
