When I have something that is a silvery color, such as something painted Gunmetal or the like, how would I go about achieving a colored, metallic color? Like, say, I wish to achieve a purple color that retains the metallic quality that metallic paints have. Without buying a "metallic purple" paint, of course; just using purple and metal colors.
blend the two paints together on a paint palet for a little bit or in an empty paint pot for more
Argh, my thinking is so one-dimensional. Thanks a bunch!
Inks over metallics looks keen as well.
yes you can mix the inks wwith the metal to good effect. I find it wirks best with colors like gold or mithrale.

I would tend to use the ink approach with multiple washes. Ive found that mixing non metallics with metallics tends to give you rather nasty dirty looking colours. :x
I will try to wash the metalics with the ink of the color of choice, but you can try to use normal paint instead of ink. Add to the paint a lot of water, (to make a similar effect to ink)
