    Melta Bombs

    Hi

I got quite a lot of Assualt Marines recently but have no Melta Bombs.

I cannot find Melta Bombs on sale at GW or on Ebay.

I have found a picture - link http://www.chromeangel.co.uk/rspecies/MeltaBomb.jpg which looks quite good.

    My questions

    1) has any one got a picture showing the scale of the Melta Bomb compared with a Marine?

    and

    2) any ideas for conversions? (at the moment I am thinking of scratch building from Green Stuff)

    Thanks in advance

Check out battle wagon bits. Found them there:

This guy started out doing Ebay sales, but got so popular he opened up his own site.

Do you still want a pic of a melta bomb for scale? If so I can get one up by this afternoon.

Here you go. If the pics don't help let me know and I'll snap some more. In kind of a hurry right now and I slapped this one together in 3 min.

I don't think postage to the UK will be that expensive. It's $US4 to ship international and the item costs $US4 so that about 4.4£ for 5 of them. Of course, given your budget that maybe too much

If you're going to make your own, I visualise melta bombs as being different to the GW ones.

Instead of just being a grenade type thing I imagine them being disc things which clamp onto the Hull, then blow up. Allowing them to be slapped on, the 'slapper' to make a quick exit and not have to worry about the bomb rolling off.

If you've seen the DoW intro movie. I'd image them being more like the thing the Orc uses to wreck the Dread.

However, these would look awefully cumbersome on the models. Still one can imagine

Archaon does bring up a good point. You don't have to model the bomb like GW does. You can pretty much do anything you want and call it a melta bomb. I personally think the meltabombs that come with models look funny no matter where you put them on the model. Although I did have this idea once for assembling a model such that it had one had out to the side like it was swinging bag then, having the bomb hanging off the hand by the plunger.

well i really see melta bombs as the Flashing Blue Grenades (sticky grenades) in Halo, really i like the idea, as it blows up blue and that it can stick on to people and walls, but how can u make a flashy grenade anyway, still the melta bomb looks cool

Actually a flashy blue light would not be that hard. Just a simple LED. The trick is to get a diffused blue. Most blue LED's are quite uni-directional. Now you've got me thinking

Put three different colored LED's in some molded clear plastic. At the start of the game I flip a switch if it's blue it's a melta bomb, if it's green it's a krak grenade and if it's red it's a frag grenade. Ah, the number of 40k projects I've got lined up this summer, it's going to fly by.
