Yes, time again for the next contest, the theme for this one was set by the previous winner Gareth. And after a chat with him he has a pretty good one, so here it is;
Theme - Unique Originality
The theme is unique originality, members are required to design, convert, build and paint something new and exciting. We're looking for originality, this will give people the chance to win this contest with fantastic conversions and not just awesome painting. This is where ideas and execution are rewarded more then neatly painted eavy metal copies. Also fantastic ground breaking painting effects are rewarded.
This will hopefully separate the artists from the painters by numbers
So open your mind and let the ideas spill forth, please by all means post design sketches, wip shots in this thread. I won't give examples, instead use your imagination.
Closing date will be Friday 14th July 2006
Voting will commence upon the 17th of July 2006.
People entering have two months in which to design, build and paint a single based model to the theme set. Members will be expected to post their pictures which will then be placed into a thread for voting. It is done so that people can improve their skills, and try out things. And purely for fun, there is no prize or anything, just the fun of it. (Maybe a virtual ribbon or something.)
1.) Models from any manufacturer is is allowed, as are scratchbuilds.
2.) There are two months to each project.
3.) Design, conversion, unique colour scheme and original painting techniques are required.
4.) One base (any size) per entry... Multiple models permantely fixed to the single base is allowed. No armies on display boards though.
5.) Models painted within the time frame are looked upon favourably. (It is of course impossible for us to check). Please use this competition to come up with a new idea.
6.) Pictures can be no wider than 600 pixels or a print size of 25cm with 72dpi
7.) Max. Two pictures can be posted. Single pics of multiple views (montages) are allowed.
8.) The organisers of the competition have the right to refuse entry to any applicant if they feel it doesn't meet the criiteria
9.) Voting. It is considered bad sportsmanlike to vote for yourself. You are voting on what you think is the most original, unique, clever conversion with the most groundbreaking painting techniques.
And good luck to all!!
great idea! very challenging though- right i'll have a crack...
time to brainstorm...
PLAN CLAN MAN!!

It's a very broad theme, with a buried insult on top of that. On the upside, I don't have any limitations. I'm looking forward to seeing what some of the entries might be.
You play your game, I'll play mine.
i am definitly in this one because it's a perfect chance to make me a blood dragon for my new army
Mmm, a very interesting and difficult theme. To bad i havent really tried anything in the conversion category yet. Oh well, perhaps this will give me motivation to get out and do it.
With just a hint of snobbery and elitism. :rolleyes:Originally Posted by Bob Dole

*sigh* you guys have completely misintrepreted my aim.
Its a competition aimed to allow not so great painters a good chance of winning by blowing us away with cleverly concepted conversions/scratch builds and painted using different and interesting techniques.
The beauty of this comp is it can be anything from an objective marker base to a dual on a single base, to a single infantry model, to the largest monster possible. Its basically an open category with the theme being possibly what golden demon judges look for in their judging, clever original concepts.
For instance I could enter my simple crashed drone marker, which has skidded to a halt creating a farrow/ditch, with exposed wires and its burst into (greenstuff) flames, its then painted with glowing LEDs and flames using the light sourcing technique. Quite a simple small tiny project that opens my mind to light source painting and required some thought on getting the drone on the ground in a realistic fashion, ie. a skid.
I will happilt enter again this time, i have an idea brewing already. As long as its a bit fairer voting this time, seing as i didnt get a poll option and people had to post with my name in bold.It wasnt as if i was going to win , but it isnt a problem that should occur again.
(*end of rant*)
