Ahh..the Chaos Dreadnought. A metal behemoth.

But it just doesn't seem to look as good as it did when I bought it.

Any ideas on how to make the guy look more animated and insane, 'coz really he is dull. Nothing to radical though, if you know what I mean.
..and by the way this is for a Night Lord army.

Well. interesting..
By nothing too radical I take it you mean nothing oo outlandish or stupid..

Are you trying to give the Dread some personailty of his own, or just lend it toward being an insane metal behemoth?

Ill throw some ideas into the pot.. see what you like

A Tally - keep a kill tally on the side of the dread.
Space Marine Helmets - A full chain of SM helmets hanging around the dreads chest plate would look sweet.
Dead Body - A Dead body in the power claw being crushed to death
Stood - How its stood lends alot to its style. Maybe have it tod on something (orks! squish&#33
Chain - chains are cool I saw one sweet chaos dread (might have been on here) that had chain around its leg like it was tied up and had broken free. The Crazed chaos marine inside thirsty for blood.

Hope htis helps..

- Stretch

if you gave it demonic possesion (dreadnoughts might not be allowed this iirc) and converted it to look like that it would be more lively

Maybe give it wings? It is Night Lords. How about switching its position, like making its legs up or maybe crushing through a rock.

hmmm....food for thought.

I'd stay away from Daemonic possession though, only for storyline purposes.
And I assume (and hope) that by wings you don't literally mean wings-I-can-fly-wings....?

I was thinking something along the lines of the forgeworld dreadnought(http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/nightlords.htm), but easily seen as a sarcophagus (fully sealed - otherwise lifesupport wouldn't really work, now would it?).

Remember the Night Lords basic doctrine is to scare the bejesus out of the enemy, more or less. So, Jason meets Hannibal Lector meets Bain (from Batman) meets "I'm-all-alone-in-a-cabin-in-the-woods-What-the-hell-was-that-noise?"

No, I really ment Wings-I-Can-Fly-Wings. Just don't factor them into gameplay, they can still look cool.

i'd say just include lots of spikes and grisly trophies. maybe make some flayed skin out of green stuff to drape over the sarcophagus, seems like something night lords would do.

Hmm yes, crucify something on the sarcofagus, that would be cool. Gotta try that on some tanks.

Which reminds me, I still have to buy Abaddon and chain him to my Land Raider...

Wings: No. Being a dreadnought, if they were organic wings from the vet. inside one would assume he would be too critically injured to perform any physical action of any sort. And if they were metal wings just...why? And wings of any sort would raise all sorts of weight and areodynamic issues, not to mention how big they'd have to be.
Just no. End of story.

Some sort of grisly trophy would do the trick, but of course I wouldn't want to overdo it. I like the idea of Space Marine helmets.

I think the main problem with the dreadnought is its stance. Main 'problem' being the direction of the head and moving the arms (outward etc.) nicely.

By the way, what's the best way to neatly hack through metal parts?

....The other day I was looking at said dreadnought and realised what I originally liked about it (its bulkiness), and began considering making one from scratch....?

Green stuff all the way
I took GS and made twisted faces (sort of like the mask in Scream-movies) on the armour and extra big eyes mutating out of the hull (since its a tzeentchian dread). Looks pretty nice and was easily done really.

For nightlords, you just gotta get him some wings and trophies. So what if he got mechanical (or biologhical for that matter) wings that doesnt work in-game. It cuold look really cool.
