An idea is to convert my guards look shooting with their lasguns-like but I don't know how to make it to achieve realistic and dynamic effect. I know that lasguns fire with red lasers but I dont know what kind of materials I should use (green stuff, painted sticks cut). I'd like to have each infantry model with short (1-2 cm) stream of laser starting at the end of lasgun. If anyone have already done it please show some photos if possible. Any ideas?
Theres a catch, they would look awful unless they were hitting a target. As long as you modelled a flash, a beam and a splat it would look great. But otherwise a bit tacky.
Ues very very thin steel rod of about .5mm dia. I keep loads in my workshop for various purposes. Drill of the barrel of the lasgun and connect the rod to it, and the other end to the target. Then, use green stuff to model a thick flash of the lasgun. On the other end, you may wish to make a physical burnhole in the model with the beam entering it. If it is armour, make sure its all hot, molten and glowing when you paint it.
This is a good idea actually, ideal for duel diaramos, might even try it myself....
Thx for 4 a quick reply .
Yeah, I'd go with the steel rods too. Take a piece of a paperclip for the steel rod, and paint that red.
Though, are you using it to make diorama's? Then Will J's is a good idea. I think it'll look strange, to just have a really short piece of rod when using it on single models.
Thx for your suggestions.
The color of beams isn't the most important thing but i do agree that icy blue would look much better than red.
I don't need it for diorama but just for playing with my friends, that's why I don't want to make conversion consisting of my trooper shooting to his enemy placed on the other side of the beam, i just want my single soldiers (being in 'targeting position') to look more dynamic on the battlefield while playing.
So maybe I should use only green stuff to make some 'beam-beginnings' on each guardsman's lasgun.
hmm well if you wanted them shooting then you have a lasgun flash on their guns and the model kinda leaning back with the recoil of the gun?(very slightly though)
