i have been wondering, would you allow a converted Rhino to be a whirlwind? i opened up the back, put a control center in, and put alot of antennae on it. i was thinking somethig like an orbital relay. i would explain it beforehand, and it would use the same rules and stuff. it is a really cool conversion, but i don't want it to go to waste.
pictures will be up hopefully soon.
In a friendly game, I would have no problems with allowing you to use this in such a fashion. In a competitve game, however, I might not be so willing to allow it. Doubt everyone would be happy about it, as it doesnt sound like it looks anything like a Whirlwind (in the picture in my mind from how you've described it). It sounds more like it would work better as a conversion for a Damocles. I think saying its a Whirlwind might be pushing it a little.
Just my 2 cents.
Can't wait to see the pics of it though - sounds like a really nice conversion.
Hope this helps
i was also thinking about making a trailer to tow with a missile battery on the back, but that was kinda overruled. if i have to i will make it, though.
by the way, this is still very WIP.
Hmmm... So you're basically going for a command vehicle that calls in an airstrike or similar (represented by the Whirlwind shots)?? Sounds cool and whatnot, but it could be an issue in competition.
So long as you explain it, casual games shouldn't have any issues with it unless you're playing a real jerk. I'd consider building that trailer, or at least a stationary battery of some sort just so you actually have that missile rack on the table somewhere for competitions, as the launcher is really the big thing that makes a Whirlwind a Whirlwind.
I personally wouldn't mind, but it HAS to have the missiles on top!
I think though u might wanna check w/ local GW for some help
Sounds like a cool idea to me and I would never have any issue with it. I want pics of it!
hmmmm,i dont think it really has enough antenni or dish's etc to represent a major communications array.maybe a big satalite dish near the front left, ooh and a wee little table on the back, kinda like a big map table,to select targets with.then id allow it.
INNOCENCE IS NOT IMMUNITY
*hint* He said it was very WIP. *hint*Originally Posted by chaos paul
Looks cool I think!
The table is a great idea. You'd probably have to model a few units in there, pointing at certain things, shouldn't be too hard to do, but you'd have to 'waste' two models.
Also, one of the things you could put in would be a Guardsman type model, with a radio, supposedly from the Imperial Navy, that way it's fluff correct as SM aren't supposed to command naval units.
