I am starting to rethink my desert guard force and am remembering my fonder younger days when there was Commissar Training detachments. Well I am stuck with all these vehicles and though heck lets go commissar.
Well here is where I am at so far with my Commissar Vanquisher. It needs to dry before I sand and prime it. But I added the skull with iron cross type thing and two scrolls. The one up front will probably say something like "Purge the wicked" and the other will be something else. I still need to do some purity symbols and other scrolls for the left side.
Additionally the milliput on the barrel will be sanded to smoothness later.
Rough Turret details
What the enemy sees from this bad boy... Hmmm big guns. maybe the front banner should say "Run... I see you heretic!"
Well this thread didn't get me much help but let me close it out with the painted unit:
Instead of posting this in the paint section I thought I would wrap this thread up with my newly painted, textured, varnished and matte finished tank. This will probably replace my old desert scheme as I remake my force into my own more fluffy organization.
Yeah its a big gun. Tank is named "Lethalus Maximus" written in freehand down the barrel.
Top shot showing the standardized unit markings for the skull on the left hand side of the turret.
Finally the front of this beast with its scroll and text. I snagged the commissar quote from Dawn of War "Fear Me, But follow me to victory" I also discovered that an #1 Archival Ink pen from Michaels with a .25 mm line width works wonders for doing small text on items. I highly encourage people to search there. O think mine is a Picma Micron 01... but if doing it on milliput make sure you mix it well and let it cure the right length of time. On my side scroll it was still ever so soft from not doing a good mix... so on with the money shot:
Suggestions of comments... I did paint over the decals but they still flaked and showed their edges. How best to fix this?
Using products called micro sol and micro set should help with silvering and the thick carrier film that gw seems to use. You put the sol on first then your decal then the set on after. Or you can just use the micro set and its pretty effective. If you cant find these i think humbrol do a decal fixative that is similar and propaby easier to come by.
Nice tank btw.
