So, I'm planning to do an all-infantry IG Cityfight army using the Cadian models. Now I need some tips on how I could do them more cityfight-ish.
My colour scheme won't be that camo-like, I'm thinking bleached bone cloth with grey armour, so I need to do a couple of conversions here and there in each squad to make them cityfighters. The bases will of course be made so it looks like they are in a bombed city.
The ideas I have currenty gathered is to make some of them look like they are caring lot's of equipment using many bags on them. Also a lot of grenades will be put on the models (even though they won't use Frag Grenades  ).
As for conversions I'm loaning a couple of ideas from the Cityfighting Guardsmens in the Cities of Death-book (the ones who are bleached bone with black armour ), like combining some Catachan bits and removing shoulder pads and such, but I would need some more ideas.
So, anyone got any good suggestions? I searched around the forum but didn't find any satisfable threads.
you could try making them look like they've seen alot of battle. you could make them all dusted up and have chiped and weathered armor. also you can make some of them wounded and with like bandages and stuff. also you can put stuff like razor wire on thier bases. also, if you plan to use the combat engineers stratagem at all, you could model them to have that sort of equipment.
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
what about a dark blue and black almost like they were law enforcement in the city. ( or modern day police officers) just a thought
I'm not sure on which strategems I will use, but the Combat Engineers are a viable choice indeed.
I have been thinking about bandages and the like and will probably do it.
Anyone have any good tips on howeasily reposition the legs?
The Catchan idea is perfect. Use alot of the torsos with just the undershirt, and alot of bandages/bandanas, to make them seem grizzled veterans.
Also, I personally use alot of present-time military equipment for inspiration for my models. So maybe make your las-guns shorter, add foregrips, laser units, maybe have one of the guardsman carry a door breacher (a tube with a squad flat piece of metal on it with handles, used to bust down doors), as well as claymores, NVGs, etc., just go nuts! I personally think this is your best bet for customization, as all those things are geared towards breached entry/CQC battles, and I'm sure the IG would be clearing rooms, going through buildings, setting up boobie-traps on their way through, because the Cityfight terrain is anything but spacious.
Also have alot of bayonettes showing, as hand to hand would be a definite in the confined streets. You could model you IG with the Cadian helmets to have headsets or built-in mics, as communication in confined and urban areas is key to victory.
Shoot first....shoot again....annnnnnnnnd shoot some more, cause I think I saw his leg twitch.
Also, very mad props to aerion_the_faitful for making so many damn good drawings, esp. ones of Space Marines (and the one that I use for my Avatar)!
They already have that in their helmets.Originally Posted by COD_Aries
I don't think I'm gonna combine the torsos, they are simply to diffrent from eachother. I'm more thinking oin line of the heads, chopping of hands from teh catachans and use them for the cadians and such.
I'm not gonna convert every model that much either, considering I'm going for an army of 100+ models.
But I'm liking the ideas so far, keep 'em coming!
Darn LO database errors...
I converted my cadians a while back to look more urban, a nifty(imo) thing I did was I cut ammo clips off assorted sprues, glued them to the arms, legs, and shoulders, and wrapped them in greenstuff to look like extra magazines.
