I'm getting my army ready for a tourney coming up in about 2 months, and this is the scheme I have for my gaunts.
The white stripes on the black carapace are a combo highlight of codex grey, fortress grey, and skull white. (You can't really tell in the picture )
The body is a dark angel green base with scorpion green heavy drybrushing.
What do you guys think? I'm pretty happy with this paint scheme... although I feel that maybe I could get a better look on the carapace by doing something else. Anyone have any ideas?
Sorry for the poor picture quality... all I've got is my camera phone
The green body will work pretty well, it looks like. And the colors themselves aren't bad for the carapace parts, I just think you might do better to layer the colors up on the carapace. Either that or do progressively lighter drybrush coats of each lighter color on the carapace edges.
i think tyranids look better with bold and bright colours, their detail is lost when they are painted dark, i like a bleached bone based scheme

Sounds good. IMHO, though, i like the red and white that they have on GW. Looks cool. Or you could go easy on yourself and do the alien look.
I really like the black with white stripes but I have a sugestion for the green, if you paint the green black instead. Then you go over it with pure blue ink, it will come out purple/blue and its dark. I think it would mix well with the black and white. Just my opinion.
