Finally got some pics of my game table and thought I would share them. The table is just a flat playing surface with the idea of adding modular terrain. Currently I am working on some buildings (Imperial City), rubble piles, etc. but have been sidetracked trying to get a playable army put together!
For the table I picked up a $1 can of grey paint that was left on the counter at lowes and 2 cans of black krylon spray paint. I primed the table white and using a large sponge roller I rolled the grey on the table. I then sprayed the grey from a distance - basically misting the table with the black. I then repeated the roller and spray process until I had a suitable smooth and mottled appearance.
Since the table is 4'x8' I painted on hazzard striping 1' in on each side to mark out the 4'x6' playing surface. Not really visible in the pictures are some subtle marking to lay out a 4'x4' table. the table was sealed with spray poly. Total costs was under $25 (though the table itself was around $90 to construct). Since I use the table for other things than wargaming I wanted the terrain to be modular. As I get some terrain finished I will post further pictures.
One last note - in the full table picture the light seems to be reflecting wierd on the surface casting irregular shadow patterns on it. the close up picture shows how the table looks on the entire surface.
I like it. What else do you use your table for?
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.
It is pretty much my all around gaming table. Mostly I have a bunch of people around it for dungeons and dragons!
