Well its time to start a new army. Over the last couple of weeks I've amassed quite a few tyranid models through various trades. I currently have enough for 2200 points and they're all still unpainted so I thought I would give it a shot.
I started with a squad of warriors as test models for the color scheme. Since all my paints dried up, I had to buy new ones. I only have 5 colors: codex grey, white, scorches brown, snakebite leather and black ink.
I'm going with a very cracked and weathered bone with grey flesh. Lemme know what you think of the scheme.
Here are the details on the back:
These are about 90% complete, gotta wait to get more paints before I can paint the bases (they're going to be stone, grass and crystals, if you can tell by the pics)
In the mean while I'm starting on another squad. The 10 termagaunts from the Macgragge box. I'm just painting over the original paint, these are just past the first stage of basic grey paint on fleshy parts.
Here's a look at some of the stuff I got in trades and I plan to paint over or strip
Feels good to be back to painting again. Hope I can keep it up and paint the whole army without too many breaks.
I recon the scheme is very cool. It looks very effective. I like it alot. My only suggestion would be to use a thinner paint brush for the final strips. Still have a lot of them, but being thinner it could create a better feel of the texture you're trying to achieve. Keep it up. I'm looking forward to seeing the army finished.
The warrior looks good, i like the idea of the mixed stripes down the back. I think something to either blend them or tone down the overall effect would be good though, give it a more organic feel. I'm not sure, but you may be able to do a wash of sorts that would darken the effect?
i like these paintong blogs makes you wanna paint
really like the warriors simple and yet advanced. you should make the bases before you spray though.. ;D
My only suggestion would be to use a thinner paint brush for the final strips.I tried out your both ideas but it came out kinda difficult to see on the tabletop and kinda blended together so i stuck with larger stripes. Kidna gives it a cartoony lookthink something to either blend them or tone down the overall effect would be good though, give it a more organic feel. I'm not sure, but you may be able to do a wash of sorts that would darken the effect?
Here is some progress. I bought a few more paints and went with a few splashes of blue to give the eye something to look at. Also painted up the bases. They're not 100% finished. I'm debating whether to use green or brown for the sides of the bases. SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!
The next squad I finished painting was a squad of 10 termigaunts (from the macragge box) Based them in the same way as the warriors. I think I will do 10 bases of rippers next
Duuuude.... very nice paint scheme, looks great. I'm jealous of your skills, serisouly. They look totally awesome. I would do the sides of the bases in Green, IMO.
Keep up the great work!!
